Wonder if we will be allowed to play against his parent club ?

I very much doubt it. Aren’t they league rules to prevent conflicts of interest and any risk of accusations of impropriety if anything untoward were to happen? Imagine if the lad scored an own goal or got sent off and took us down to 10 men.

Sure it's happened before though, and they've played.

I don’t think it’s a rule more of an agreement.  More likely in the same division in a league match.

Isn’t up to the clubs involved to decide

Both clubs would be crazy to prohibit him playing .

…in your opinion.

In my opinion, I’d prefer him not to. If the lad has a bad game, suspicions will be raised, even if they are well wide of the mark. I’d rather not put us, Spurs or the player in that position.

I think he should play. The cup tie rule is a out dated one. Think the decision will be down to Spurs but surely it helps his development if he plays.

Unlikely he gets a go if Clifton is fit. If I was Spurs I'd be bringing him back just for this crime alone

Man, you have a massive issue with Clifton.

It'll no doubt be up to the parent club but also how we perform might influence other loans from Spurs. My season ticket holder spurs friend  was giving me grief within 10 seconds of the draw

Highly doubt they'd let him play. They're a top club who want to win, they'll absolutely withhold one of their assets in Ajayi and rightly so.

Without taking us lightly I’m sure that they will be confident that they can beat us whichever team we put out. Thomas Franck might want to see how Ajayi can perform against better players. Surely he isn’t going to get kicked against them as opposed to any other side he plays against?

I've vague memory it happening in a league match and the said player scored against his parent club, possibly winning the game, his parent club manager got some proper grief about it,think the player was out of favour with him, hence loaned out,not sure but think it was championship, possibly Bristol City involved, does anyone else recalled it?

As long as he starts against Rotherham as Sharp will never see the ball otherwise!!

There's no way he should play - not good for Spurs, us, or Ajayi himself. People would over read into anything he did (good or bad).

I thought his decision making was very poor today and his technique left a lot to be desired. Much better to come from him, I’m sure.

I agree, it was a poor attempt on goal, and the pass to Ben would have been the better option.
He came with very high expectations, but doesn’t seem to be getting to grips with this level at present.

The coaching staff need to have a word with him, wants to do it all on his own when he has better options

He’s a very young developing player. His decision making will come.

Some comments on here make me laugh.

He’s an extremely talented young player. If he was ours we would be talking very differently

He’s got improvements to make but he has the ability to have a very good career.

Absolutely.  Once he gets that and some composure he'll be a real good player.  Just needs more games to learn.

Whilst he made a few mistakes and wrong decisions, he actually looked like one of the players most likely to make something happen. Unlike the fella he replaced. I can live with a bit of naivety if he gets the defenders scrambling in the opposite direction.

Yes, he was naive at times but we'll find out whether he's prepared to learn and commit to the cause.

He wasn't the only one though with other players just lacking a little composure at key times when a second goal would have killed the game.

He is very talented and also very inexperienced. He can come on for 20 minutes and run riot because he hasn’t and hasn’t been trusted for 70 minutes previously in tracking back, pressing and holding shape against a side full of energy. Gibson and Middleton had to do that, Ajayi didn’t.

Let’s hope that whilst he’s developing & learning to make the ‘right decision’, he does both in time to help us this season.

I thought he was dreadful today. Ben Close would have buried that if Ajayi had just slipped the ball to him.

It happened against DRFC. We loaned Ian Duerden to Kingstonian and he was allowed to play against us under Wignall’s management and scored once, possibly twice in win against us at Belle Vue. Rank bloody stupidity and totally amateurish on Rovers’ part.
