Isle of Axholme Supporters Club
« on August 28, 2025, 01:17:05 pm by Rovers Return »
To all the Rovers fans living in the Isle of Axholme area, we will be setting up an Isle of Axholme Doncaster Rovers Supporters Club from the end September. Paul Mayfield will be helping us set this up and The Carpenters Arms have agreed to host us for meetings/events/pre and post matches -  and of course a few beers!
The intention will be to run coaches/minibuses to games- home and away from the Carps with some pick up points tba and Marco at the Carps will work with us re early morning set offs/late evening returns etc. We also intend to get players/ex players involved where possible for events at The Carps.
We will be setting up a web page/email in due course but please just like this post if you are interested and we will add you to the group page when it is set up.
RTID

The launch of the Isle supporters club 15/9 6.30 pm at The Carps in Westwoodside. Please let me know if you are attending. We have several staff from the Rovers joining us and our coach provider. We are going to try and get a coach up for the Spurs game from The Carps and will be able to confirm this on the night and take bookings. RTID!!!

Well done RR and good luck. It is always nice to meet up with fellow Rovers supporters. I miss that having lived in Bradford since the 1970s. Nice to catch up at games  though.

I’d echo what Idler said. Well done RR for setting this up - it’s great to hear of a new Supporters Club branch being formed.
Good luck!

Great initiative. Do you know if you plan to pass through Auckley village on the way to home games? A pick up at the Eagle and child would be most welcome!

This one of the items to be discussed on the night. The pick ups, I believe, will be considered by the bus company. They are based in Armthorpe.

This is very likely. It would be rude not to :-)

I would think so! I'm assuming that Isle pick ups would start at that end then through Belton, Epworth, Haxey, Westwoodside, etc. Again up for discussion on the night and after that would depend on take up I would have thought.

This is a great idea. I’m on the dark side of the Isle, in Crowle. Pick ups from there would be great.

I can’t attend the meeting itself as I’m away on holiday from 9th September until 16th, however would be keen if you could post the outcome on here and any agreed routes etc if that’s ok?

We will be running a bus to the Spurs game from The Carpenters Arms on 24th Sept. Bookings will be taken on the 15th Sept launch at the pub. If you can make sure you get a ticket for the match prior to booking the coach. Cost will be set as the same as the other coaches going from the Eco Power which hasn't been set yet but we estimate around £30-£35 pp. for Supporters Club members. We are hoping to get a 50 seater so hopefully that can accommodate all the Isle contingent. On the 15th Paul Mayfield and Len South will be there re helping me with any of you  joining the supporters club officially. For the event we have had confirmation that Gavin Baldwin, Cliff Byrne and one or two players will be in attendance and we will do a Q and A session with them on the night. Marco has promised his beer will be as fantastic as ever in the Carps!!
Re pick up points for Spurs we will sort on the night
Cheers all

There is already a coach that goes to most away games which starts at the Hatfield Chace. If you want to know the details let me know and I'll send you a private message.

I would have loved to have been there when he turned up for the bus to Notts County when he was suspended/injured after a couple of pints. Him and  Cusack having a disagreement, my money would have been on Douggie

Hi everyone- quick reminder re Monday evening launch of The Isle Supporters Club.We have laid a few things on so it should be a cracking meeting. Spurs coach details/bookings on the night £30 pp, Paul Mayfield and Len South from other branches will be there and Dean Medcalf SLO is hoping to attend. Gav Baldwin/ Cliff Byrne and a couple of players should also be joining us for a Q and A session. If anyone is wanting bucket hats/flags/T shirts etc doing bespoke we have Julie from Starlight Embroidery in Carcroft coming along with samples and info. We will definitely be buying an Isle Rovers Flag! We will also have NGS travel coming along to discuss coaches/minibus to home games from the Isle- very similar concept to what The Retford branch do with a few pick up points- all input welcomed on the night. Gav is bringing a signed shirt for the pub as we will use it as our base even though our landlord Marco is a Wendy!! (TOP BLOKE THOUGH!!)

Last night's launch of the Isle of Axholme Supporters Club at the Carpenters Arms was a big success, with around 60-70 Isle supporters turning out in force. We were privileged to have Gavin, Cliff and Dean Medcalf representing the club and speaking so enthusiastically and positively about the board, management, culture and ambitions during the Q&A. Massive praise to Darren Callow, Skip O'Hara and fellow fans (including Paul Mayfield and Len South) for helping to get this branch off the ground. There's a real buzz again - with club and fans connected - so here's to a great future together.

Brilliant. Great to hear about such good numbers turning up.

Looking forward to seeing your flag at future matches!

I'm sure the club inc Terry must be well happy with the expansion of the Roverw family and the work you've put in. This is one of the main things that motivates him to keep investing in the club.
