Ever thought that some people just like to watch a game of footbal without screeching and hollering? Maybe that's why we, who did our singing before some on here were born, decide to sit in the quiter stands

What an ignorant response to trying to improve the matchday atmosphere..
There are people of all ages in the ground and some have health issues that limit involvement in chanting. Fans with different personalities perhaps also view a match in different ways. Every fan is entitled to choose how they support their team. I’m all for backing the team vocally but if the quieter fans didn’t attend then we wouldn’t have a team to support, or at least a successful one. I was very vocal in the 60s and 70s but now I’m in my late 70s only join in sporadically. There is room in the stadium for all types of fan.

Absolutely. Nobody is suggesting the club are ignoring any supporters needs or wishes, but the OPs thread was a request for ideas.

I'd like to think people recognise the atmosphere in the stadium has improved gradually over time and everyone contributes to that one way or another.

What was that clapping Iceland fans did a few years ago when they beat England sounded really good

I think the others stands do join in. Im in the west and alt do including the corner.

It seems the east that some join in with the clapping on songs. I dont think the atmosphere is that bad. It's now getting busy too so always makes a big difference.

For me change the goal music back to Tom Hark, we all got involved in that whenever we scored.

But that wasn’t my point. The OP was about the matchday atmosphere, anyone not interested like yourself could have just scrolled on by but instead you decided to reply and used the words screeching and hollering and claiming you did all your singing before all the young ones were born.
Came across as an ignorant and unnecessary response to the point of the post IMO

My response was to you calling raven’s post ignorant which I felt was impolite and uncalled for. I would probably have just carried on reading and not posted otherwise. I didn’t use the words screeching and hollering in my post.
If your post was aimed at raven then you should have quoted his original post not mine.

You have your opinion and I have mine. That is what a forum is for. We are all Rovers supporters in the end and will all be supporting them in our own way on Saturday. Enjoy.

I’m in my late sixties but I sing and shout like a young ‘un at the Rovers, especially at away games.
It’s the only time in my life that I can really let go and express my emotions and I love it!

But I respect those who support the team without being so vocal; they are no less of a fan than I am.

What I can’t abide, are those who mean and criticise, even when we’re doing well. Those who call out players even when they are giving their all and performing well.

These are the ‘fans’ who really do get my goat.

I agree with you there Neil. I tend to join in more at away games with the tightly pressed atmosphere. I don’t get as many sore throats these days though.
