Joe gone

to Tranmere Rovers, 4th in line he can try to make it in Lg.2. I still think he lost it after one season, his only use was to wrestle with centre halves last season. Good luck Joe but you will not be missed I reckon.

Bit harsh. You don’t know what his influence was like with other players in the squad. Personally think your words could have shown a bit more respect to a player that’s been a solid servant to the club

Deffo in the minority with that comment, Barmby.
For me, a proper pro who did great things to help turn this club around, and to help the junior members of the squad with their development. Best of luck, Joe. And thanks.

Sure the OP doesn’t speak for every Rovers supporter and most will have more respect for Joe. Hopefully the injuries are now behind him, never gave less than 100% and many times was colossal for us scoring some massive goals in big moments. Will watch the rest of his career closely. Best of luck Joe, go and rip it up.

Very best of luck to him. He's a great lad. It was an absolute privilege chatting with him for 10 mins in the Sal on Promotion Day last season. Intelligent, honest, humble at the end of what must have been a  horrible season for him.

Three year deal is madness by them. Best of luck to Joe. Hope it goes well for him.

First season he was a handful and key to us getting in the playoffs, last season he was a shadow of that player. He's done well to get the security of a 3 year deal hopefully he does well for them he put a shift in.

What a top guy and deadly at League Two level. They are very lucky to have him.

Saying that, I hope for his sake they have dramatically improved because that Tranmere side that came to the Eco-Power last season was by far the worst side I've seen in the professional game, and as bad as some of the sides we used to play in the early rounds of the Sheffield Senior Challenge Cup.

Thanks Joe - great in his first season and a real talisman for us.  Hope he does well at Tranmere.  He arrived on a free and left for money, so no issues with the deal....

The penalty against Sutton that started that unbelievable climb up the table will live long in the memory.

Didn’t quite work out for him last season or the start of this but always gave 100% and wish him all the best.

Bit gutted by this.
Was a cult hero, that penalty at Sutton and the infamous radio call in.
Was a huge part of our turn around afterwards.

Also, im baffled how we've let him go but kept Hanlan.
The game against Rotherham we needed him.

Just seen their squad. Average age looks around 34. Hope Joe can prosper there, because he is going to be carrying a lot of tired old bodies.

He is still a very effective striker and works his socks . He played his part at DRFC and should be recognised as real team player . McCann never lost faith in him only ran out of options to keep him .

Gave everything. Everyone will mention Sutton. I remember when the roof nearly came off when he scored and put us 1v0 up v Everton in the cup.

Gutted. I know he wasn’t on top form last season, and hasn’t really had a chance this year. But he always gave 100% in a rovers shirt and scored some important goals. Seemed like a top bloke as well. All the best Joe.

The opening post is disrespectful to a player who gave his blood, sweat and tears to the cause in our redemption season. I hope that if he’s reading he made it past the OP.

He is one of only a handful of Rovers strikers in the 21st century to surpass 20 league goals in a season too.

But even if he’d have scored half the amount of goals that season it would have been an incredible contribution from him.

His graft, link-up play, never say die attitude and ability to put up with physical abuse from opposition centre halves without as much as a whinge really set the tone from the top of the pitch. Because by god we’d had some dossers and some tripe in that position in the years before him.

Yes we’d probably outgrown him, but he was a big part of the group that got this club out of its hardest time in the last twenty years. A good player and a good honest man.

Your last 3 words say it all.

A great, genuine bloke.

These are the types of people we really buy into as a supporter of a lower league club. People who give you absolutely everything. Literally cannot ask for anymore than he gave us.

Sad to see him go,great player, very professional, and great person from what Ive seen, like the news that its a 3yr deal, pleased for him, will probably flourish again in league two.
Best of luck Jo,unless you come up against us in a cup.

Always sad when one of our leaves but in this case I think everyone just wanted Joe to start regularly again before it was too late . I think that he’ll be back to his best very soon !!!

Disgraceful OP.

Joe will be missed. Was a popular figure within the dressing room, which is important for squad moral.

Given the chance on the pitch this season im sure he would of come good. Always gave 100% even when things wernt going our way.

Come Jan, we will be again having to look for a number 9 because the loan signing will be going back and we will be left with billy and hanlon (who by all accounts is more of a winger)

Unless this was to free up wages then i dont understand the need to offload

Barmby rover certainly doesn't speak for me, he's a better player than Hanlan and given a run in games with Middleltons crosses I think he would have got a few goals this season. Good luck with Tranmere Joe

Just clocked the length of the deal. Excellent deal for him at his age, that. Pleased for him.

He was part of a record equaling Rovers team so he get a thumbs up from me. Andy Crosbie an ex Rover in charge with a possibility of a takeover, so hopefully better times on the Wirral.
