He's, almost unnoticed, become an all time Rovers' legend

He never played for Rovers above League 1 level and his departure to Derby was not greatly admired at the time. Wellens, Stock and Ostler all had outstanding games and gave good service to Rovers in the Championship and this “arrival in the box” category certainly captures Bailey’s style, but it’s difficult to believe that there is evidence that the three mentioned by me are inferior to Paul Green who seems to have become increasingly legendary following his somewhat unpopular defection which he had lined up before our success in the P/O Final. Was he really such a hero?

I didn't see that implication at all. He only made a reference to Paul Green being a good late arriver in the box. Whilst Bailey is good in that department too, and was probably recognised for that by his goals leading to the nomination, we all know, Bailey offers much more than that.
And none of Stock, Wellens and Ostler were 'late arrivers in the box' so their use in post 10 is entirely irrelevant. It is that very attribute that is the point under discussion. Praying irrelevancies in aid is often the mark of an argument on thin ice.Bailey certainly is the best such player since Paul Green. Note the use of the word 'since'. It was used, clearly, by TRB.BobG
Player of the month curse. He was well below his best today.

He was well below his best today. They all were, I don’t believe in ‘curses’ or the fact that we haven’t beaten Wigan at home for the last 7 games ‘therefore we shouldn’t be surprised by today’. It’s rubbish.I believe Wigan finished 15th in this division last season (?) although I could be wrong. I feel we are equal to them when we are ‘all on song’ & that the first goal today was going to ‘set the theme’ for how the rest of the game was played out. Given we conceded two in the space of the first 12 minutes we were left chasing ‘shadows’.The result hasn’t ‘hurt us’ too much in the standings & it still very early days of course, but I feel it’s how we respond against Wimbledon at home next Saturday that will tell us much about the group & their belief in themselves & one another before the ‘free hit’ against Spurs arrives.
