I’m sure we were live on MOTD in the FA Cup a few seasons ago v Crystal Palace.
Wasn't a 0-0 with Portsmouth, mid 80s on MOTD ?
West Ham United 1 : Rovers 1 which was in the late 50s - confirmed online as 1957 and Eddie McMorran was the scorer (I’m pretty sure).
Away to Huddersfield 75/6Home to Portsmouth 79/80 ???

I'd say it's a long shot that this game featured on Match of the Day given it's seven years before the programme first aired. As has been stated above, the only time Rovers have been the featured highlights game on BBC's Saturday night Match of the Day is that 1999 FA Cup 1st round tie against Halifax.
...The following verifies the existence of such highlights. It is from Wikipedia: “ The BBC, meanwhile, started showing brief five-minute highlights of matches on its Saturday night Sports Special programme from 10 September 1955 until its cancellation in 1963. The first games featured were both from the First Division – Luton Town v Newcastle United and Charlton Athletic v Everton. Kenneth Wolstenholme and Cliff Michelmore were the commentators.”Perhaps not strictly “Match of the Day”, but an historical equivalent and conceivably worth a mention as possibly the first televised Rovers league match.

No, that only verifies the existence of the programme, Sports Special. But not that this West Ham vs Doncaster match was featured on it. There's no mention of the game being televised in the match programme, or in the Radio Times listings for 19 October 1957, sadly.Be interesting if it was, as I've never seen or heard any reference to it before.
I suppose that if there is to be an argument VR - and I wonder why peoples’ honest recollections have to be challenged rather than noted...

Hence me digging about online on old tv listings and programmes.
