Only 5 teams in our league have scored less goals than us, and our goal difference is the worst outside the bottom 4.

Add to that the fact that of the few goals we've scored, most of them have come from a defensive midfielder.

The strange thing is that GM has always been an attack-minded manager, yet this season, apart from the Middlesborough and Bradford games, he's seemed utterly clueless on how to set a team up to score goals.

Next up is Reading where we are currently on a 6 game losing streak at their place, and who we have beaten only once in the last 17 games dating back to 1983. In recent history we have played them 10 times since we came up to the Championship under SOD where our record is played 10, lost 8 and drawn 2. We failed to score in 7 of those 10 games.

Reading seem to be a bit of a bogey team!
However I do remember the classic 7-5 back in the early 80's.

And Les Chappell of all people scoring the only goal of the game, for us, at Elm Park, sometime in the mid '70's.

Never forget that. I was there :)

Yep, Kerry Dixon scored 4 goals away from home, and still ended up on the losing side.

He never got the match ball either,  Ian Snodin got it.

I was there that day too Bob, ruined Reading's perfect home record. Another Reading game a couple of years before that was during the 3 day week. We finally got there at half time to find that we were 4-0 down with the announcer saying that Les Chappell had scored a hat trick. Another hat trick at Elm Park came a few years later from Alan Brown when we beat them 4-1 but victories against Reading are like hen's teeth. They must be our worst opponent historically?

Rovers have played Reading 44 times historically in all competitions. We’ve managed just 5 victories, 9 were draws and Reading have won the other 30.

Rovers last victory was over 41 years ago.

Would be amazed if we scored next week, let alone avoided defeat. They are unbeaten at home since 16 August and are on a 6 game run at home of 4 wins and 2 draws.

Yet they are 3rd bottom and have won only 2 league games all season....

Crazy isn’t it. They’ve lost fewer league games than we have this season.
