Time for Copps to go.
« on October 20, 2025, 04:48:04 pm by Usher wide. »
He was a legend as a player here but, he can’t use that as his crutch much longer.

He’s obviously offering nothing to this group now we’re playing at a higher level.

I see nothing on the pitch that ‘has his stamp’ on it.

Go now Copps, before your ‘legend status’ is tarnished for all time.

As a smaller club in the football pyramid we would always be struggling to get players and staff of a quality that would enhance the club.

Why would anyone want to see the back of a individual who has been a club legend and still has plenty to pass on to younger players?

More often that not he’s at a fixture of a soon to be opponent, like he was the majority of last season. The question I wonder is why have they brought Mad Baz in as a coach this season, he was a goalkeeper, then a goalkeeper coach, but why as a coach for outfield players.

This has nothing to do with the ridiculous Copps post that started this thread. However I did watch the GK warm up with a bit of interest. The quality of the serve to the GK was awful as was the warm up shooting which was either hit at 100mph from point blank range or not hitting the target at all. The crosses to TLT were weak and high. I thought with 2 GK coaches there the warm up would have been exceptional but nope it was in my view poor. If you look at all our GK performance over the season it hasn't been impressive.

I have also felt for many months that Copps should not be involved in recruitment. What qualifications has he other than being a “club legend”. Too many of our signings have been lightweight clones. A team should, in my opinion, contain a contrast in height and strength - we are desperately short of tall and / or strong players

What a bizarre post. Copps is not involved in recruitment anymore. He is doing his coaching badges and will be a highly respected first team coach. In addition to the physical coaching, his experience and understanding of mindset, mentality and mental health will be invaluable.

Also, he if fancies teaching our midfield the 'Copps Chop' that would be an added bonus. He doesn't pick the team or play so why would the blame for recent form lay at his door?

Quite interesting that Grant thinks Copps is better served travelling the country watching future opponents on match days rather than being a voice in the dressing room.

Following losses, no stones remain unturned when it comes to finding scapegoats and conspiracy theories. Pity the catering staff at the training ground who must be feeding players magic mushrooms.

Whoosh!

I’m hoping this OP creates more posts than Neil’s (a poster with two to his name) in the hope that sanity prevails.

It’s not ‘bizarre post’ Scooter, LincsRover, danumdon, It’s one intended to highlight the ridiculous nature of the OP on Grant.

Read between the lines!

This form continues for another 2-3 games and Terry will come into the firing line, sure as eggs is eggs.

Thanks for clarifying Usher, although I’m not sure it was a clear and obvious error or we could have had VAR involved!

Someone loudly shouted on Saturday that we're shite because we never spend, so it's already beginning indirectly.

We don’t spend on players as it all comes out of the same budget. So it simple we’re skint where buying anyone who commands a price plus above a stage wages . If we chose to invest in players it would be young up and coming prospects. My concern would be , why have most of the players we had on loan now playing at other clubs in our league , so what didn’t we do to get them back ???

There's some right whingy old bas**rds supporting Donny. We're mid table in League One not too long after looking like dropping out the league, and we've only recently won a league title.

You do realise in the sport of football you'll have good and bad periods. Some lads need to grow up and get out more!

Life and sport is all about confidence and sometimes its difficult to get that back to a level where every one is happy.
The players themselves know if they have done enough in a game and dont need criticism from fans and forums because reading the forum lately is all about criticism isnt it time we encouaged our team to put into place what the manager is attemting to carry out on the pitch. Its the managers role to have words with players who dont perform and l wonder how many players read this forum?
So more encouragement and bite your tongues and get behind the team 100%

If everything in football was hunky dory and nobody was willing to criticise we would most likely have the happy clappers ultimate hero Schofield and his backroom team still here looking for the perfect game of passy in the North East Premier league.

If you've been travelling to away games every week, spending £300+ on rovers each weekend to take a few of you down to London etc over the last month or so, it's not much comfort to think "oh well we won the title last season".

Like I personally can have a bit of a perspective, but then again I haven't been doing many away games this season. Hurts a lot more spending hundreds of pounds and travelling hundreds of miles.

The issue isn’t our loosing games it’s the WHY !! What  is endemic in this club … lack of ambition with forethought build in . If we saw players gradually progressing through our ranks we could understand our transfer policy. But we loan players that gain progress only to loose them and start ALL OVER the rebuild every season . Investing in players just isn’t done at DRFC .. we get out why we put in and the results that flow from that !!!

Well said, mate. I took my daughter and youngest grandson to Leyton on the train. The whole day cost me something north of £250; and I'm a pensioner.

I didn't mind the defeat, it was the embarrassing nature of the performance. We experienced the same thing at Wigan.

I don't think it makes us poor fans to be a little bit p*ssed off with things at the moment.

Never mind the cost Steve, what dastardly deed had they committed to have to to the match, poor devils.
Why don't you just threaten if they don't behave they will have to go to the match at the weekend and be miserable all the week after, that should straighten them out.
