I hate all that stuff, for lots of reasons.

It smacks of:
“Not only can I not be bothered to cook something, I can’t be arsed to get out and get myself something either”.

Not to mention the fact that the industry is riddled with illegal workers.

.... and for the ones who do queue in shops , very frustrating . The people at home jump the queue and places like Greggs have Staff committed to getting loads of gear ready while others hang about hoping to get served

Another problem that I've noticed , do NOT park too near a shop where food is collected as the Drivers will obviously park as close to there as possible and are NOT as careful when parking up as the average driver

Just Eat and the like is a very interesting one.

The cut they take from companies is very large. But if you are not on it you are missing out.

On one hand they could be seen as yet another drain on a struggling sector. On the other you could say it is making more independent establishments widely available.

How about getting off one’s backside and visiting said independent establishments?

The big one is laziness.

But you could argue accessibility. Maybe a shift in people's mindset that a big night in is more enjoyable/affordable than a night out.

It has also created a new concept of the sector in Dark Kitchen's which are there only to serve the likes of Just Eat.

Again, I'm not pro these companies but in terms of laziness is it different from ringing and ordering a Pizza or Chinese 20 years ago?

I’m old fashioned I guess, but it just doesn’t sit right with me.

This one is from a personal point of view. 

I find a lot people ring me or message me out of business hours, sometimes at 10pm.
Is it because their phones are stuck in their hands scrolling my website or social media platforms and they just automatically press the call button?

I also get people finalising jobs at night time with a list of questions. Not sure whyvthry cant ring me in business hours and actually speak to me?
I should really get a personal phone but i cant be arsed having two phones and contracts.

I always worry about disturbing tradesmen while they are working. I have had one or two moan about the phone always ringing when they are busy. I usually ring between 5 and 7 so they are possibly driving home or just finished for the day. I would never ring late at night though.

I try to make contact through txt message so that if the tradesman is busy or a bit late they can answer at their convenience, I also look after anyone who does work for me, constant supply of tes/ coffee etc, and if we have anything to eat they will be offered the same

The amount of times I'm waiting in a Greggs cue for breakfast when I'm working away, & half the staff are doing just eats etc orders amazes me. How hard is it to knock a bacon sarnie up at home? Laziness.

Is it not a bit hypocritical that you’re in greggs buying a bacon sarnie someone else has made but complaining about other people doing the same in a slightly different way?

I’m surprised at the stick food delivery services are getting here. I rarely ever use it but given it’s so popular it clearly shows that it serves a need so what’s the issue? People who do use it pay a premium to do so but obviously value the convenience.

See I don't like using Uber eats or deliveroo but Uber do have some really good deals on like greek gods in the wool market two gryos for £19 collect and have a pint or two while eating it or pay £16 each if you just order and pay

I think lockdown(s) skewed consumer habits, and also encouraged shops / restaurants etc to diversify - supply and demand, and all that. While ever all alternatives are available then consumer choices are supported - you can go out and get the 'dining experience' (my preference - if I'm forking out for dinner I want to splash some brut on and dirty someone else's plates) or the convenience of eating out at home.

I worry about the automation of other things - accessing health services and banking in particular. While they're convenient while things work, when they go wrong you're knackered - I got logged out of my online banking and needed an hour appointment to be set back up! Access to health services is more worrying as those who are less IT literate or are otherwise less able to use technology are at risk of missing out, and I think more and more the health service will need to automate to manage increasing demand for services.
