The biggest improvement is the recovery facilities for the physio's to use as they see fit for injured players. As far as using for fitness and strength they can now be done in house under supervision and the right balance between weights and suppleness exorcises can be overseen by in house trainers with the expertise to do so. An over reliance on weights can be counter productive to the all round athleticism football players need to reach their maximum potential.
