McCann post match interview
« on December 09, 2025, 10:31:45 pm by Nudga »
"Yep, I made my subs too late again.  I didnt realise we were starting to lose grip on the midfield until we conceded the first goal. I should have took off the young lad who kept leaving acres of space and kept giving the ball away but I didn't.
I need to stop being so reactive in these situations and be more proactive.
If only I had technical staff high up in the stands to tell me where we were losing possession and momentum.
Still, I chucked on more subs to see if owt would happen.

It's a shame for player X to not get in the squad but that's because of the outstanding form of player Y.

Who would want to manage rovers with a set of fans like ours.
Bloke has dragged us from the bottom end of league 2, to league winners and now we hit a bad run then gets absolutly riduculed.

Well hope some of these fans put their names forward as the next manager when grant leaves.
They obviously have mass amounts of knowledge that a double league winner doesnt

Anyone watching that tonight who doesn't think McCann f**ked up royally by selecting Crew over Clifton is part of a personality cult.

I put this on twitter pre game “ Interesting that he’s swapped a presser for a passer in midfield in a game where we are playing a team that’s likely to have a lot of the ball. Hanlan a better runner than Sharp on the counter as well. I may be wrong and we might dominate the ball but I doubt it.”

I can understand Grant wanting to freshen things up after the late KO on Saturday but Bailey, Broadbent, Clifton and Hanlan were the first four names on the team sheet for me. Change the other 6 outfield men if you want but don’t change them.

I think you may be somewhat missing the point really, which his he messed up again with him selection/tactics, but of course not helped by some of the players we recruited being so poor. Clifton should have started so was biggest mistake last night.
I’ve not heard his interview but interesting if he did say he needed someone high up in the stands? That doesn’t say much for his coaching team does it?
He is the one that should be up there, if he feels he is not getting a full view from the touchline.
I think fans do realise he is a good manager, but of late he is making some strange decisions, and lets face it he will have had the final say on the summers recruitment, which is our real problem at the moment.

Grant’s assessment (as it mainly always is) was fair, he didn’t try to say we were anything other than we were- poor, flat and possibly mentally beaten before the kick off.

Important to show a lot more on Saturday or we will be well beaten, Cardiff will be a far better team then they were tonight.
