Well at least he admitted Olowu was lucky to be on the pitch               just about

Interesting he thought the ref was against them, I thought he helped them out all night.

Agree we looked soft and weak, mostly because Grant set us up that way, playing Crew who looked like a kid playing in his Dad's five a side team - happy to do a trick in space but messed his trousers every time someone went near him. Clifton must have run over Grants dog to be sat on the bench watching that toothless display. And our usual width meant we we're easily rolled over in middle, with our loan striker working his nuts off against massive defenders without support. We shouldn't be down the bottom end of this league, and with Wednesday coming down we need to be doing everything in our power to staying in it!

A Rovers fan’s take on the game:

Olowu should have been sent off for the terrible foul on Bailey. That ‘non-decision’ changed the course of the game, as I also believe it affected the rest of Owen’s performance;

We played well in the first half and certainly matched Stockport. Not a great spectacle but that wasn’t helped by the gusting wind. A fairly even contest at the half-way mark;

Stockport came out better in the second half and we were generally poor. Even so, it took an early Christmas gift from our defence to give them their first goal, and we struggled to find a way back into the game;

We have to witness some dreadful time-wasting tactics these days and if there was a League Table for that, Stockport would be way out in front;

All in all a disappointing display by us after a recent improvement in performances. Nobody recognised that more than Grant McCann, who gave his usual frank and brutally honest account in his post-match interview (contrary to the ‘invented’ version elsewhere on this site).

We move on. Let’s hope for an improved performance by the players on Saturday, along with an improvement in the reactions of some supporters.

I think you’ve been as frank (& yes I know it hurts after such a ‘flat performance’ by Rovers) as Grant was in his post match interview.

He adds the coaching staff’s mistakes & decision making to his players poor display.

You listen to Ben Close too & yes I know you get more cliches with player interviews but, last night apart, we have been very competitive in games in this division & having to face the best team in the league away for your very next fixture, well it could be an annihilation or we could see a performance like the one against Huddersfield but this time get ‘the breaks’ & an ‘unexpected’ 3 points.

Keep the faith & hope we can pick up more wins than losses until that window opens in January & we get the striker in we so desperately need.

Was you watching last night?  We need more than a striker.

Yes I were.

Our No.1 priority has to be a striker of the ilk of Rob Street. If we don’t have a front man who can offer more than we currently have in terms of turning the opposing centre back/s then having the pace & calmness in front of goal to put the ball in the net where are the goals going to come from that we desperately need to start winning games? Please don’t say “our midfield”.

Yes we need more dynamism in the midfield & if O’Riordan ends up going back to Blackburn then we will ideally need a replacement, but it’s all about priorities & imo that would be a striker in the mould I have alluded to.

Have a read of the New Topic ‘Losses’.

At one point last night I was asking my mate why we had a centre half having to attack up the wing to try to inject some pace into the attack, where were the wingers? On one "attack" at least three Rovers players were in a position to shoot, all chose to pass the ball off, are the players afraid of missing or shooting and having a shot blocked? If so, why? There is a lot to answer for last night, some of these players have to ask themselves if they are really up to this standard and should they leave to go down a division and let us get decent players in.
