League One league table
« on December 22, 2025, 05:19:25 am by Draytonian III »
I know we are 2nd from bottom but it’s not like we are cut off by 10 points, we are 7 points behind the team in 8th. I know Saturday was bloody awful but I think a lot of the reaction is that everyone , including myself had started to think we would beat Plymouth and Blackpool because they were below us.
Anyone want swap places with Harrogate or Newport ?

This is the what I’m trying to focus on that all it takes is a couple of back to back wins and we will be mid table. However as positive as I can try to be it’s hard to see when our next win is going to come from.

Agree the league table is not the biggest issue in the world. Our form is what worries me.

Our form, based on performance and underlying numbers, up to the last 3 games has been quite good. We should have been comfortably mid table. Sometimes you don’t get the results you deserve, that’s football.

The issue is that we are probably 6 points behind where we should be (based on performances) and now the form has dipped we are behind the curve.

In the last 3 games we’ve played the two best teams in the league and a team, although struggling, have some very good players. We could have quite easily been 12th, and lost these 3 games and nobody is worried. Having not picked up the points that we should have in the previous 10 or so games, the margin for error evaporates.

Blackpool are nothing more than a set of bottom half plodders. No reason we can’t go there and turn them over. Probably help if the manager didn’t have a post game interview melt down and come across devoid of ideas.

Go back to plan A, do it better and don’t try and tare up the script would be my advice. He appears to struggle if he can’t align what’s happening to some sort of “momentum”!

Don’t focus on results, focus on performance, we’ve had three pretty ordinary ones but prior to that they were ok. You can’t lose all confidence in yourself in three games surely????

You set out a well reasoned case there Gazlaz, but against this, the psychological burden is heavy and could increase, especially after the spirit departed from them in the second half on Saturday. We also had McCann personally seeming totally disheartened after the match. There will need to be a massive effort to re-motivate and to re-establish confidence if they are to pull themselves up from such a nadir.

The spirit departed when we went 1-3 down

The spirit was tying its shoelaces and getting ready to depart when they equalised.
