True. But if by “the hunt” you mean competing for a play off place, we currently need to overtake 17 teams to achieve that.

Despite 12 points not seeming like all that much, with that amount of traffic, there are always going to be too many teams between 6th-23rd that benefit from other teams between those positions losing. They can’t all play the top 5 or teams below us every week.

It’s going to be really difficult if we lose our best two players in January.
Whilst money will come into the club, it will be difficult to replace them within the January window.
We have seen Grant pull individuals in the last two January window, to enhance a very reasonable squad, without losing anyone.
Just nervous with our current position, bids will be forthcoming, and we are left with too many who are currently not performing.

A very worrying time this.  The attraction for any player coming here in January is not what it would have been in the last two January windows and add to that the evidence of GM's disastrous summer signings this season I wouldn't like to be the one(s) having the decision to make on keeping him or not.  I fully expect him to be given the window and retained irrespective of where we end up.

The manager debate is tough.  Mccann on the whole has been great for us at our club and I fully hope we can stick with him and his team for a good few years as that stability is vital.  The real problem is that's all forgotten if we end up being relegated, which is a realistic proposition without some wins.

I fully expect they'll stick with him for the forseeable and allow him to strengthen in January.  Mccann has a 47.9% win average even with this last run since he came back and was 45.8% in his last spell.  No manager on such a long spell comes close bar Dave Penney.  It would just be too knee jerk to change the manager IMO at this point.  I'd take the risk on him getting the form sorted out.

How can anyone argue the signings haven’t been disastrous. Only 2 of them have performed.

One didn’t get a proper chance until mid November.

The other one is going back.

The rest are no better than we had last year and haven’t made an impact.

The signings haven’t all worked out but more concerning is that in the first few games, they looked by and large good. Ajayi was very dangerous and Middleton was whipping in excellent crosses. They like pretty much the rest of the squad has gone backwards as the season has progressed. That’s the issue. The signings themselves clearly have something, it’s just not something we have been able to draw out.

Middleton would have been an excellent signing with Street still in the team - that’s where the biggest mistake was made. NOT signing a striker with the same blueprint!

The signings have been dreadful.

The evidence of that is our league position.

They weren't that bad when we played Middlesbrough off the park!

For me i think the Tottenham game killed us, the form dipped as soon as we drew Tottenham away (not sure if the players were trying to keep themselves from being injured) but we never recovered since then.

We got all our business done early and that got everyone on the same level of fitness from the good regime they put together nice and early too.

I think as other teams got their business done and their squads up to fitness we have been overtaken as the quality has shone through.

6 points the “gap” may be. But it’s going to need a shitload more than two wins to get to 9th.
Rovers ppg is now less than 1.

We were absolutely robbed tonight,
What happens when you’re struggling, should’ve won that game. At 2-2 there was only one team in it.

Formation and line up was decent, performance wasn’t bad.

We’re paying for our awful business, McGrath isn’t good enough, Sharp has now sadly past it, and we’re looking like a beaten team - we concede straight after scoring, we capitulate at the end - hallmarks of lost and beaten teams.

We deserved more from the game, but we didn’t have the quality or the belief to get it.

As much as some people contest this 100% comes down to budget and ambition.

We only signed one L1 level player in Matty Pearson and he is knocking on. All other players were L2, league of Ireland or on loan with no experience. Just look at stockports signings most L1 or championship. Reportedly spent over £2m on two players.

If we only sign the best players in L2 then we will be the best team in L2

We are effectively 5 points from safety if you consider our terrible goal difference. Our situation is looking increasingly dire.

We can't be shipping goals at the rate we are and still claim to be playing well. Defending, and the ability to soak up pressure is a big part what makes a good performance, and we're miles off it.

The defence needs a total overhaul ASAP for us to even stand a chance of getting out of this.

Our lack of ability to take the ball under pressure and keep possession is so Sunday league standard it’s a joke. It’s ok playing a press but you can’t do it when the ball bounces off your forward players everytime it goes into them or the midfield are running onto passes at full pelt when it’s drilled into them. The defensive woes are just not even worth discussing anymore.

Why press for a winner at 2-2 when the defence is so exposed?  Has McCann never heard of parking the bus?  Ok, not guaranteed we would hold them out but we just need to start getting draws when we can't get wins.

An improvement of 27%

It's possible, clearly, but we really do need a good transfer window.
