Last summer's recruitment
« on December 26, 2025, 05:59:52 pm by karlos »
Whilst at the start of the season I thought we had recruited well it shows just how wrong I was!
Robbie gotts - can hardly get a game
Glen middleton - like wise can't get a game
Hanlon - not consistent enough
Joe sbarra - sent out in loan
Matty Pearson - past is sell by date
Loan
Charlie crew - never wanted to be back
Ajayi - not ready yet
Tlt - not the player we thought he was going to be
The lad from America - very poor
O riordon - done well

Not sure if I have missed anybody but  one player to do well out of all is not good recruitment.
We need a keeper who is going to breed confidence in to his defence  much like tlt did do in his first season.
Also getting in a striker who can actually score like rob street did would breed confidence and give a knock on effect to the rest of the team. I honestly can't see how we could go into this season with a worse attack than last year lessons wasn't learned from the first half of last season.
Major improvements in the recruitment needed and you have to question the change in the head of recruitment.

Add Grehan to that list who has been disappointing.

You can’t expect to get results when you chop and change the team every week , ok we’ve seen players go back on loan but we are chopping and changing pairings at centre back , centre midfield , and offering no attacking threat in most games.

We need to get back to basics and become hard to
Beat rather than  pushovers, some of the blame falls at the players feet as well as the manager

Someone to finish chances would breed confidence into the rest of the team.

I agree with all apart from Hanlan.

He was the only one who looked like a league one footballer today. Thankless task first half due to the system. Put himself about second half and unlucky not to score.

I think we are far better than that these day but when we were last relation fodder in this league we were pursuing John-Joe O'Toole as the midfield savour to put some steel in the midfield. Hoping we’ve got more sophistication now than just recruiting the right “character” for the fight.
