Well done Rovers Tonight
« on December 29, 2025, 10:08:27 pm by mpc123 »
Thats players and fans tonight.

I thought we played really well  and the 700 fans who went amazing.

A bit more bite in midfield and I think we will be OK.

Im sure there will be some idiots that come on here and slag the team off, same old ones.

We are not far off you know, at all.

The more we get behind the team rather than criticising every mistake the players make things will be a lot better. Those idiots just need to lower their expectations of what we are capable off, and before they come in and here and mention that the manager thinks we can compete, of course he is going to say that. He isn't going to come out and say the players aren't good enough for this league so strap yourself in for a poor season.

Sorry, have to take an opposing view to that. Another game, another boatload of goals conceded. Another game where we just can't stay remotely solid against well organised teams. This feels terminal for our season.

When we kick off, it's like we're already a goal down, thats how shockingly weak and disorganised we look. When we scored the opener, I celebrated like always but quickly got a knot in my stomach watching us head back to the centre circle. I just knew we'd concede before long.

If you think that shows a lack of belief, don't watch their third goal back, christ. Nobody closing down the cross. Nobody bothers to challenge at the back post. It's like we just accepted it. And every week the players accept the softest goals that teams don't have to work hard for.

Yes, at times we were unlucky. The penalty looked soft. Bailey missed a sitter. Sharp would've scored but for some great defending. But you can't complain about luck when the players completely throw the towel in and treat big moments like a half arsed training exercise. We are so, so easy to play against. That's the problem. What do we work on in training?

I dont get to many away games these days and I'm sat in the back of my mates car with the heating doing sod all so that's probably playing a part but I'm livid after watching that.

I will say the fans were a positive tonight but we don't get any points for that.

It’s not just bite though is it, I bet they didn’t even know we had midfields on the pitch… we were not even in the same postcode for tackles to add the bite you mention, and haven’t been f9r months now.
As the County commentators mentioned - there is a high quality players in our squad, but we ain’t a team!

Midfield is about the only place we're ok!

We need 2 new centre backs and a proper established striker

No am point superlatives will alter the fact that goals from strikers who know how to battle to win …, we don’t have this in any quantity!  Supporters have seen this coming and it can’t change a thing  until IT changes and we invest big in a goal scorer..

Penalty is actually a foul on Senior first
2nd goal Wooton is just faster to react than Pearson
3rd McGrath bullied by Wooton
4th chasing game

Playing with 10 men when Sharp comes on doesn't help either.

Bailey chance at 2v2 has to go in.

Close is better than Broadbent but that's not too hard.

Imagine Middleton will likely start v Bolton. Bar hitting the post I forgot Gibson was playing and has gone missing for about a month. Bring him back in for the Bradford game

Well done players & fans tonight, one day we will take these chances. Lady luck has deserted us big time. That's the second game against these that should have had them down to ten. Centre half needed, striker needed, midfielder needed. Gutted tonight.

Penalty was a pen. Senior had a handful of shirt and pulled him over. Nobody saw the handful of seniors shirt without replays. We dont have VAR at this level.

2nd goal is a L1 striker reacting/expecting quicker than an aging CB

3rd goal, agree, McGraths inexperience and getting bullied.

4th I missed due to blue circle of death

Close was terrible first half, misplaced loads of passes which is normally his strongest atribute. For me should have gone off at HT.

I have long been a critic of Gibson but thought he played well, some great touches and play and also worked his socks off.

Im a die hard Billy fan but even I am getting tired of his arsey attitude now. He is just a constant risk of yellow/red.

It’s getting to the point now, where I have no interest in performances. With 1 win in 16 and 5 defeats in a row. We are far too easy to play against and made it easy for Stockport to score. I really do worry for us. Watching Donny at the minute it’s hard to find much joy especially considering we’ve conceded 14 in 4 games.

Call me a pessimist but I don’t see us getting anything against Bolton or Luton and then it’s 1 win in 18

Agree , even though it would have only been 10 minutes of us v 10 men the Ref cannot be excused for not sending Norwood off for a second yellow for the " tackle " on Senior

But he did what lots of them do and bottled it

Added time again 6 minutes and that cheat hills rolled on floor , then had a go at our fans for having a pop at him

Then he looked to be pointing out the offenders to the Muppet Ref and finally the keeper took the Goal Kick and we lost 1 minute 45 seconds of that added time.

Next we saw them get a throw on left touchline and the injured limping thrower ambled over to take the throw and another 45 seconds of the 6 added was lost to us .... 2 minutes 30 just in those 2 incidents

Whether Billy barged Hills at the death ( it looked like the other way round to me ) but the Ref gave them a Free kick and gave Sharp a Yellow and another 1 min 25 gone.

It stinks

I'm surprised nobody has commented about Lawlor palming it into the danger zone, cos I think it's a fair bet TLT would have. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Lawlor could have done much else.

What world are you in where close is better than Broadbent? Broadbent is a very good player

I said yesterday and I've been thinking it for a while.

The only way we survive this season is by putting Bailey to centre back. We haven't got another one in the squad remotely good enough for this scrap. We've got to start by being tight. We aren't going to get out of this by saying "You score 3 and we'll score 4".

I’d sign 2 centre halves if I could only make two signings in January. Damming thing to say after we signed 3 in the summer!

Don’t think he’s impressing the locals at Salop and they’re struggling to stay in the football league. Our defence is bad and there’s no protection from midfield but I think watching big Tom in this league would be the end for me.

I thought Billy could have been sent off. It looked like a forearm smash into the back of Hills’ head.

It was a great reaction save, the rebound was almost on the line and wide, no way should Wootton score there

Wootton was in an offside position when the shot was taken then lawlor saves and he taps in . So goal should not have stood

This TLT wouldn't have saved this at all. He's saved it whilst going the other way. CB Pearson plays like he's 50

We had an impressive start to the season with this group of players, so they can’t be that bad?
We were all singing this squad’s praises a few months ago and some were talking about promotion.

What’s changed?

Thats players and fans tonight.

I thought we played really well  and the 700 fans who went amazing.

A bit more bite in midfield and I think we will be OK.

Im sure there will be some idiots that come on here and slag the team off, same old ones.

We are not far off you know, at all.

Midfield is about the only place we're ok!

We need 2 new centre backs and a proper established striker
We’re not OK there, teams run through our midfield at will

Correct. We aren’t ok but we will be. The quality is there but it’s up to the Manager and Coaching staff to work out how best to use it.

Is that the personnel or our set up though. So many times we play a 3 with 2 of them so high and wide they aren’t in position to do their defensive job. We’ve seen that Bailey & Broadbent are good enough and Clifton has done well in there.

I think it’s how we set up and what we ask of the midfield which leaves it wide open. Baileys strength is getting into the box so we need someone sitting with Broadbent who just sticks in there.
