In hospital with a punctured lung.

Sounds painful!

A little light in midfield now.

Think it happened when he stopped Wooton scoring a header and got clattered. That header went past the post faster than most players at this level can kick it!

We must have a midfielder coming in as since the start of the season we’ve lost SBarra, Westbrooke, Crew and now Close for a while.

Fair play to Close for getting into that position to defend but he got well clattered.

He hasn't had much luck when it comes to getting a run of games in all his time with us.

Wish him well with his recovery from this nasty injury.

Wow
Didn't he get up and play on a bit before being subbed? That's Rob Jones warrior level stuff.
Having punctured a lung playing amateur football, hats off to him. I couldn't catch my breath sat in the car on the way to hospital never mind play footy.

Fair play to him. Some of fan base like to say he’s lightweight, can’t tackle etc, what they miss is stuff like this where he’s in the right place at the right time. Just because he doesn’t go diving in like Broadbent doesn’t mean his defensive contribution is less.

Bloody hell that takes some guts to try & play on.

Suffered the same injury & it took me all my time to get in & out of the car to go to hospital.

Get well soon Ben, I reckon we need you now more than ever.

He did look in some real pain. That’s a tough injury for him. Hope he’s back on his feet soon.

Sounds like a broken rib to result in a lung puncture - nasty.  Wishing Ben a speedy recovery.

Said so to my lad watching it, he looked in agony, but trying to hide it - I said he needs to go straight to hospital, he was white as a ghost as he sat down.
He’s had some real tough luck with us, and never seems to get that run where we can see or really tell if he could be good enough.

Think he's been good recently. Set pieces particularly. Any Idea how long he'll be out for?

As a critic of his over-cautious defensive style in the past he has distinguished himself considerably recently in my eyes with his very accurate free kicks. I suppose he does not have the frame to tackle robustly.

A lot of sympathy for the injury but don't cloud the issue, we should have been a goal down in the first few minutes of the game because he is weak off the ball left for dead on his back side only a poor finish stopped us being one down very early in the game down to his lack of tackling ability.
All the time he has been here he has had the odd good game then disappears in other games as he is easily got on top of by stronger who over power him.
Having said that he doesn't deserve the injury and I hope he recovers well in short time.

Hope he gets well soon. People have differing opinions on Close but I think he’s a real quality football and he’s been a great pro since he signed.

When he was on loan at Eastleigh last season I saw the team layout on BBC and he was as down as co-striker !! in one match and I thought wtf - I expected them to jump up the table but it didn't happen.

What a load of rubbish. Ben is a quality player and in my opinion has had far too much underserved critism.

Powder puff. Got a good short range pass on him but apart from that the game passes him by imo. Gets ran through by anyone more energetic or physical than him. Awful win percentage when he starts for us. Should have cut our losses with him when his contract last ran down
