Best performance since he came here. My MOM today. Needs a run of games and might just get it after today.

Gotts was good today, picked up a lot of second balls and drove us forward

Yes, excellent today. His positioning, work rate and pass completion were very good.

Between him and Senior for me as MOM although there were some other good performances too.

Thought he did lots of good stuff but mixed it up with some very schoolboy “panicked lashing anywhere”

There could be a player in there, but he has to calm down.

He was great today. Maybe suited more to playing a bit deeper after George went off.

My MOM too tbh Middleton (in my opinion) was behind Gotts, Senior and Nixon for MOM

I thought it was Senior, but Gotts wasn’t far behind him.

Having just watched the highlights, how the hell have we not smashed them by 5, exceptionally poor finishing , and one very good save.

Someone’s gonna get it soon, Stockport and now Bolton have been very lucky.

Gotts was the player I’d hoped we’d signed when we first got him & today at last, he ‘turned up’.

Excellent terrier like performance, never stopped harassing, turning over possession. Excellent game.

I truly am not looking for a war here but, Senior over Maxwell every time for me. His turn of pace is unbelievable. My MOTM too.

Hanlan…..never again please.

Hanlon for me is not a center forward on the wing he looks a different player and so much better

I agree, his positioning and speed of play was spot on, we won much more second and loose balls today with him in there and I thought there was a bit more balance and tempo to it too.

Definitely encouraging and he took his opportunity well today in there.  Some of his touches reminded me of Wellens a little bit calm and quick of thought.

He is a forward but needs it into feet or slid in either side. He does keep telling them, I’ve watched him trying to explain it more than a few times. Pretty sure this should be discussed and worked on during training though.

Mcann likes a big lad to lump it to though, so he may have to adapt the best he can.  But he wasn’t in the game at all today, dominated by their number 5, who I suspect would struggle when faced with pace and balls on the ground.

Thought Senior was fantastic today, was so agressive in his play and he was screaming at everything and everyone throughout the whole game. Gotts was brilliant too once he dropped back and based on today alone is where he should be.

Yeah McGrath got quite a few earfuls from Senior.

The goal still came from our left and while I haven’t seen it back Senior wasn’t close and it’s his side. McGarth too is just a weakness in everything. It might be confidence which hopefully he can rebuild. If not we need better

The goal was a mis-kick and is just what our luck is like at the minute.

No team or player shuts everyone out 100% of the time.

Looked back on the highlights and in fairness Senior is back but seemed to be very central.

The actual goal is a fluke and unlucky but the build up is one pass to the centre forward who lays it off and they are all of a sudden in a dangerous place. Not to dampen a good performance but that element of the goal is avoidable.

He’s better on the ball in tight areas than Broadbent for sure.

I really hope this is the turning point and he now establishes himself as an important player.

He was brilliant today, the way he picked up scraps and got things moving was brilliant to watch.

Could you analyse our goal as well? Not being an arse hole but people always pick up the minute detail in what should have been done to stop a goal but that is the same for every goal, Im sure everyone of ours could be stopped if someone in the opposition did something better.

Thats why they have pundits.

Gotts was my clear MOM. He did really well picking up loose balls and getting after their midfield. Whether it was just how the game went remains to be seen. Hope it wasn’t luck.

To say he's only small he covers ground pretty rapid and can break lines in midfield. With Clifton as well we had legs and athletasism in the middle which has been something that we've missed for ages. Thought both full backs were fantastic today also. Been pretty obvious that Gotts is more suited to a deeper midfield role than a 10.

I agree this was probably his best game for us and had he played like this in previous games, we would not have been questioning his recruitment.
Yes he made a few silly mistakes and seemed to tire a little, but he put in a very good shift and a good performance.

Definitely agree, good tackling, good passing and a determination to go forwards, mind you that culd describe the whole team yesterday, a really good performance.

Put upturn in performances has coincided with Gotts moving into that deep midfield role. He’s been great in there and has made a huge difference.

He has been excellent Gaz, no question. There's a better balance and far more energy in midfield with him and Clifton. And yes, there's been a consistent improvement in performances. I think we should stay up without too much fuss.
