What did they think to him? Was there an option for them to extend or not?

I actually rate him. Definitely a confidence player, but when he's on it, he's very good.

Good player ,but just not built to get stuck in and pulls out of 50/50 balls way to easy

I’ve seen quite a few of our players pull out of 50/50 balls this season

He struggled to make an impact at the club rooted to the bottom of the national league.
Will be lucky to get a club higher

Sometimes it’s a lot harder to make an impact in a poor side struggling at that level. If he’d gone to a forest green or a York I guess he would’ve done much better

I recall whenever i played, if the overall team was poor it would make me look poor despite my efforts, if the team was great then i would look good. Sometimes thats why some players work out at some teams and not others.

Unfortunately I don't think he's done enough to make McCann think twice. Plus the signings today suggest his time may be done.

His best season for us was in that dogshit McSheffrey / Schofield team. He got 7 goals that season I think and looked like he had ability.

I don't think McCann has ever fully trusted him enough to play him regularly, and never got going again.

And then we extended his contract just to loan him out for some reason.

I like him but can’t see him playing again when we have Adelakun, Gibson and Middleton in the same position.

I watched recordings of a lot of the Gateshead games this season. The mid field were consistently poor, and wide players thrive on service  which was poor.
What he did do is when he got the service he took players on, and worked the flank defensively much more than in his early games here.
Grealish would struggle there never mind Hurst.

That’s double edge sword really to attract clubs like Forest Green or York he must show the ability and goals. He has not done that in Scotland and Gateshead both Loans. He wasn’t picked two seasons ago in our great run therefore even at League 2 he’s not shown what is required. To be fair to Kyle their are others still in the squad that still have to prove they are League 1 quality although they showed last season they were definitely league 2 quality.

On his way. No doubt  out that. Who h is a shame because he was the one who really excited me when  he got the ball and ran at people. Showed he could score goals too.  Never responded to McCann tho.

Sharp probably going too. Hopefully Gibson will join them.

Think this will be his last chance to impress, although Grant"s probably made his mind up about him. I really rated Hurst but hes not realised his potential. Possibly even regressed.

Surprised he didn't get a league 2 side there's teams at that level he'd improve.

Real shame he hasn't kicked on but his days here are over.  Surprising as he showed so much potential under Schofield and had a decent return too.

They could field 6 ex Rovers players including 2 loanees and their management team formerly from here too.  I guess they could argue opposite too.  Interesting how linked the two clubs are.

In another 5 years given the crap we got from them when we went down there, think by then their penance will have been served
