I get a feeling that if Teddy was playing behind this defence in this league, he may well be having the same problems as TLT.

I suppose it  depends on how you want to play, there was a reliance on TSLs distribution last season. Probably the best distribution I’ve seen from any keeper - laser guided.

Unfortunately TLT doesn’t have the same level of ability in that area.

Then we come to shot stopping, it was widely reported on here, people thought TSL was poor in this respect, and then Bolton fans seemingly agreed with this. I never saw it this way at all, but I will not argue with facts if they are presented.

So TLT should have the edge in that area, and to be fair he has stopped a fair few one on ones and pulled  some decent saves, but he has parried them direct into play and cost goals doing so.

We are obviously a league above and with a defence and midfield that offers no protection to him, or anyone else coming in.

Tough call if it’s even on the cards. I like both and would be happy either way.

They both have their strong points and both have their weak points, lets say we were to sign TSL i guarentee you after a few bad results those same folk will be saying how shit he is and want TLT back.

People forget that the reason they are in these leagues is to learn and get better and hopefully get into their parent clubs 1st team one day, for some it happens and for others they don't. I'm just sick of our fans expecting premier league type performances from league one players, they are all human beings that are mistake prone and then the witch hunt begins until they are taken out of the team, the replacement plays well for a few games and then makes a mistake and then wants the other player back in.

The club can't win because fans always think they know better.

"But his displays have been inconsistent for the Whites, which led to Steven Schumacher dropping him on New Year’s Day on his return to Doncaster – a decision which is understood to have sparked Premier League Chelsea into action on a recall."

Better than Neil Sullivan? Better than Carl Ikeme? Seny Dieng? Sam Johnstone? Rovers have had better than TLT and TSL before.

I was very impressed with TSL last year as a young, inexperienced goalkeeper.

Probably the most impressive thing was how much he improved as the season progressed. At the start of the season he was fairly solid but by season end he was excellent.

I'm very surprised that he hasn't kicked on and been a success in League 1 with Bolton.

Whilst we could still do with a reliable, competent back up to Clark this development has come too late as far as signing TSL on again this year.

Chelsea won't want TSL to be second string to Clark and Clark would be ticked off at the prospect of becoming second string to TSL.

For distribution TSL beats those, as an all rounder , I’m not sure we willl ever see as good as Sully at this club again.

He has been recalled because Bolton have dropped him after some very poor games for them.

Well, we've got another keeper in Clark to abuse before we need TSL back. Ha ha.

A keeper is not the top priority right now. A centre back as good as CO’R, or better, is. There’s no doubting that, surely. We are down to 2 centre backs, neither of which have looked assured so far this season. Yes, Bailey has stepped into the back line before, but why would anyone want to take one of our most consistent performers out of midfield,  never mind he’s our leading scorer!

We don’t know what Grehan’s injury is or how bad it is, but he’s not been regularly in the first team picture.

We’ve a tough few games coming up and it’s getting to the stage where we have to start picking up points on a more regular basis. Why would we jeopardise that by going with what we have, without reinforcing our back line?

3 out of Bailey’s 7 goals have come from set piece situations, so he could still be a threat from those.

TSL like any keeper or player of his age is always prone to a loss of confidence and performance, especially just after a successful season previously, its expected that their levels will fluctuate, it doesn't make him a bad keeper (same applies to TLT)

Nobody is born great, its something you work on and develop over a period of time. i've no doubt TSL will become a competent keeper, TLT too, if they both put the work in.

ZC looks like a competent keeper to me, his distribution looks sound, hopefully he can instil some confidence and belief into whatever defence we put in front of him.

I know it’s a bit off the main thread but has anybody seen the Sheffield Wednesday/ N.Ireland goalkeeper Pearce Charles’s distribution, he’s the best I’ve ever seen, live or on tv

No thanks. Said it at the time and still stand by it. His distribution is outstanding, if it wasn't for that he wouldn't be a professional footballer. Shot stopping was worse than Louis Jones and we released him.

TLT has the attributes to be a better keeper than TSL IMO.

Im not surprised at all that TSL hasnt kicked on at L1 level, he wasn't great at L2 level.

I also partly agree with what Fal mentioned about people expecting world class performances from L1 players. The reason I only partly agree is that TSL / TLT were not L1 players when signed. They are young lads stepping up to L1 and trying it.

I love Teddy for what he did for us (Bradford pen) and that he was part of our promotion team. How he grew that year was clearly visible......but this does not jade my view to his attributes and limitations. If we have him this yr instead of TLT we would have conceded more.

I think Teddy probably has a higher ceiling in the level he COULD get to given his distribution, but Timmy is probably more likely to improve to a L1/Championship keeper sooner and for longer due to his physicality.

Again, only an opinion.

It wasn't the fans that signed a new keeper, it was GM.

He obviously doesn't share your views about the capabilities of TLT.

Just on the distribution point, Clark looks like he's got great range on his kicking, only seen him Tuesday so a small sample size, but he was hitting it wide and well in to their half, so hopefully he has the distribution to help us with quick counters and getting up the pitch more directly.

Shame about Teddy, I think everybody genuinely wanted it to work out for him but he never kicked on and to be honest was going backwards. As others have said here, his awareness and distribution were excellent but his shot stopping was always questionable and he had little or no physical presence, which in the end was what I think convinced Schumacher to replace him. I’ve no doubt he has all the pieces and if he can just fill out a little physically will I’m sure prove a very good keeper for someone. At this time though and with what we’re going through at the Reebok he just proved too much of a risk but I wish him all the best in his career which I’m sure will be a good one.

Thought he was excellent last year but that was last year. We need to move on and stop returning to old faces, it doesn't always work out too ggod.

Sharman-Lowe has better shot stopping stats than TLT this year surprisingly on both ‘save percentage’ and ‘goals prevented’.

It's difficult to judge overall, particularly when I think it's fair to say TLT has been more exposed this season when defensively, we've not been as robust. Yes, he has looked shaky at times but some of the saves he has made where the opposition has followed up to score, aren't always attributable to him. The root cause being elsewhere. As suggested above, TSL or any other keeper would struggle to keep their numbers up with the chances we've given away.

Will be interesting to see where TSL rocks up next. I would imagine his stock is still quite high.

What's the point of this thread he's gone back to Chelsea been recalled he won't be coming here.
We can't get a good centre half when we knew COR was leaving. That's the priority now not a loan keeper to replace another loan keeper
