Some stats after last night
« on January 14, 2026, 08:46:06 pm by Dutch Uncle »
Been a very busy time for a while, but finally some stats after last night:

This season Rovers have won 9 matches in matches outside of the league competition (i.e. Knock out Cups plus playoffs). This equals the club record set in 2006-7 when we also progressed on penalties in one match meaning we came out on top 10 times. We also won 9 as a non-league side in 1998-99 including the non-league cups (FA Trophy, and the Cup for Conference Clubs which we won when it was called the Endsleigh Trophy)

We have scored 28 goals in knock-out competitions this season, second only behind the 30 scored 2006-07, which was of course the season we won the Johnson’s Paint Trophy. We also scored 28 in 2018-19 – another season when Grant McCann was in charge.

Billy has now scored 10 goals in cup/playoff competitions for us (9 in the last two seasons). He is behind Paul Heffernan (18), Peter Kitchen (16), Alfie May (13), Alick Jeffrey (12), Brendan O’Callaghan (12), James Coppinger (11) and is equal with Colin Douglas (10)

He has also scored in 6 different competitions for us – 3 different league levels, FA Cup, League Cup and Associate Members Cup (AMC, currently Vertu Trophy). There are only 4 other players who can match this:

Chris Brown has scored in the same six competitions as Billy
James Coppinger has scored at league levels 2,3, and 4, FA cup, League Cup and Playoffs
Brian Stock has scored at league levels 2 and 3, FA Cup, League Cup, AMC and Playoffs
Paul Green has actually scored in 7 competitions, albeit 3 of which are non-league. He has scored at league levels 3 and 4, Conference, League Cup, AMC, FA Trophy and Conference Playoffs.

Don't forget Richie Wellens too! It will be a while before it looks that good again.

Would Green not count as 8 if we are including play-offs for Messrs Stock & Coppinger?

Many thanks DM4. It is actually 7 competitions for Greeny. My aging eyes misread the columns on my huge spreadsheet - of course he scored (memorably) in the Conference Playoffs and never in the Conference Cups which had actually been discontinued by the time Paul first played for us. Note to self - use a larger font.

I really appreciate people reading my stats, and thank you again for pointing out my error  :scarf:
