Haks
« on January 28, 2026, 07:51:50 am by Reg of the Rovers »
Like a cheat code. He's been the difference since coming in, every minute he's on the pitch we look dangerous, and defenders look worried and come tight on him and leave space for others.

How he can work the ball in tight spaces, and some of his switches of play are sublime. Fair play to the lad, it's early days but looks like he can step up and storm League 1 no bother.

Though he deserved his own thread!

I think hes made a big difference. Very clever on the ball and just seems to make things happen. A great signing.

He’s got loads of ability, Grant obviously has the nack of getting in focused which hasn’t always been the case. Just need to keep his head in the game for another 19 games.

His runs in behind add another dimension and his decision making is excellent.

Difference is that he just looks to go forward at every opportunity, even if its a hopeful hook it the corner or a switch of play. Class for us but never looked as good as this at Salford or Cheltenham.

He is playing with a purpose and the amount of tracking back and pressing he did last night was remarkable.

I think fundamentally Haks isn’t particularly good at winning the ball back but he is tactically aware and sits in pretty good positions when we don’t have possession.

Because he's such a threat it gives the opportunity for Mollyneux to also get into the game, teams can't double up on both wingers! So by having a threat on the right also it gives Molly the space he thrives in.

Grant also appears to give create freedom to attackers which must be a dream for talented lads.

Grant had to remind him a couple of times in the first half to run. His quick throws also add another dimension.

Great player and here next season no matter what. As people have said, sees a pass that so many don't. Get him scoring and we should be in for a good end of season from him.

Him and Okoronkwo have given us another dimension in attack. Haks' movement and quality on the ball is clear to see. We've looked a better attacking prospect since they've both come in I think. Clifton caused them all sorts of problems last night as well, he seemed to get close to Okoronkwo and play off him whilst he occupied their defenders.

I love having Hacks in the team.
He is terrific with the runs in behind defenders and so confident and full of quality with the ball.
His defensive work is also a bonus.
He also takes the pressure off Mols and that shouldn’t be underestimated as it free space up for him.
The two of them will help us climb the table.

Unbelievable people a few weeks ago were saying “no thanks” just because he previously turned down a deal.

Unbelievable to think Haks and Frankie have come in as pretty much a straight swap for Ajayi and Olasanya!!!!

Poles apart!

Lesson being we need to try to avoid young untested players, it clearly hasn't worked 3 seasons in a row now.

Transfer criteria should be mandated. We could so easily or reduce waste by stopping certain profiles of signings that have returned a negative expected value historically.

I needed a shot on target from Haks for my bet (£115) to come in last night. The wasted freekick and the opportunity after great play from Moly stick out for the chance he needed to take.

He's been a decisive factor in our recent upturn but the transition of Gotts into that deeper midfield role is the key ingredient we've been missing for a long time. We've finally got someone who can get about the pitch and be brave on the ball looking to be progressive with his passing and capable of breaking lines in midfield and generally getting us on the front foot early. Broadbent or Close just look to take the easy options slowing us down and not having the legs to get about the pitch. Clifton has upped his game recently too which is helping the balance of the midfield.

Both Haks & Gotts were excellent last night in a really good team performance. Haks tracking back was good too.

Got to admit I forgot how good he was. Remember he had the skills but his play is more intelligent than I remember. Great signing

He’s a bit like Diouf. Just looks a class above. Haks and Mols as wingers with Gibson and Middleton as back ups should make for a really good league one team. Hopefully next season.

It has been talked about numerous times on here how Molly's high point in his form was when Haks was in the team the first time and now suddenly were seeing Molly back to his previous best.  It surely cannot be coincidence.

He just makes the game look easy, doesn't he? Him & Mols seem to have an understanding too, which you don't often say about two opposite wingers.

I’d argue that Haks influence has had a dramatic affect on Mols form. We now have not 1 but 2 seriously dangerous wide attackers. Also, we have someone who takes his defensive responsibilities seriously (unlike Gibbo). His 2nd half showing v LOrient was very switched on to the team’s needs.
When Okoronkeo gets his fitness right, we’ll have a very potent front 3.

After the first goal, the look of joy when haks and bails were celebrating was a sight to behold, hes slotted back in like hes never been away. And boy is he loving it.

Days like today are the flip side of Haks and it is so frustrating.

People are slagging Gibson off but he did as much in 30mins as Haks did in 60.
