Two things come to mind.

1). Interesting to see non-segregated fans (people cheering when each team scores)
2). This was 12 years before I was born, it feels alien watching another "team" that I didn't know represent the club in the stadium I loved

Great find.

I remember YTV built a big camera platform from scaffold right at the front of the Popside terrace  which meant there were quite a few with obscured views.

I think it was one of Alan Clarkes first games as Barnsley player/manager which was probably the main reason YTV chose the game.

In the mid to late 70’s I used to stand near the wall next to the home dugout in my khaki coloured Parka and watch for players removing their shin pad tied ups ,which were usually off cuts from bandages. Once I had seen one “ go to the floor “ I would keep my eye on it and the end of the game I would run on in total Hereford Utd style and pick up said items. I think I’ve got at least 3 in a box upstairs and they used to belong to Jack Lewis, Brian Taylor and Dick Habbin

Thank you for posting. Remember going to a fair few Barnsley games including this one. So to me Barnsley were and always will be my biggest Rovers rival. They would become a really good team in the next few years under Clarke. Thankfully Bremner arrived and we caught up a little in ‘81.

I remember my dad taking me and a mate to Oakwell in 1965 to watch the Rovers there.
There was no segregation and we were stood around the halfway line, fans of both teams, and Rovers won 5-1.
Lots of banter but no trouble at all.

I’d just spotted this on FB too and come here to post it. Never seen such clear footage from so long ago. Belle Vue rocking there, and still familiar from my early days as a fan in the 90’s (which probably shows the lack of development and investment, in fact it definitely went drastically backwards as a facility between times)

We were doing a boiler repair at Wadworth church that afternoon. There was a sparky there who was a big mate of the Barnsley goalie, Roy Ironside and he kept telling me how we were going to get thrashed. I think that we got two or three in the last ten minutes or so. The home fans were streaming past us late on. We went by car but I think that there was some trouble for some of ours who went by train after the game.
