Thought he was no more than ok today. Surprised he got MoTM. I thought Byrne deserved it to be honest.

Was excellent again tonight Gotts, breaks up play & anticipates passes, neat one two's & rarely gives the ball away. One of the 1st names on the team sheet for me.

Agreed. Although Close ran him...err...close. calm, unhurried authority in the slot just in front of defence. Could give us a whole new dimension if he can keep that form up.

Gotts and Close were great today. Has Close put a foot wrong all season when he's played?

No more than ok? If he hadn’t been in the team tonight, I hate to think what the final score would have been. I’d love to see how many metres he covered!

Showed more in 5 minutes than Gibson did all the time he was on the pitch! Senior, Sterry second half, Close and the defending by McGrath and Byrne were other stand-outs.

Robbie Gotts was man of the match by far ,he wasnt perfect but he got stuck in more than i can say about Gibson who gave the ball away many time , but 3 times stood out and nearly lost 3 goals but was saved by other players to stick their bodies in the way , he annoys me so much as he just looks like he cant be arsed, how he keeps in the 18 even beggars belief.

Look I think McGrath cant head a ball ,and no wonder he mostly takes the easy way out by passing either back to TLT or along the back row, as he just can't find a player ......no i take that back... .he can't find a ROVERS player to save his bleedin life. ohh what we could have done with £500 never mind £500,000 for him.

Gibson gave the ball away cheaply a few times early doors granted but he did some excellent work tracking back throughout the match. Both our fullbacks did well stopping crosses into our box aside from a few by Gooch , but he's the type of player who easily creates half a yard for himself to whip a ball in. Both centre halves dealt with most things thrown at them although I don't understand why McGrath seems to think he's prime Ronald Koeman?! Close did well , placing himself in some good positions defensively out of possession. Gotts was fantastic , very forward thinking & his energy gets us on the front foot. You do have to question why it's took the manager so long to realise his ability and  I think it was only due to injuries he was started initially in a more central role? He does strike me as the kind of player that trains how he plays . I will add I thought Huddersfield were very poor though.

Gotts is yet another one of the terrible Mccann recruits with saleable assets. Terrible Mccann!

Gotts, Byrne, Close, Senior and Lee were all excellent. If Close had stayed on he would have been MOM for me.

Gotts seems to be getting better every game. Hes so good at creating space for himself with his first touch and seems to know whats happening around him, often “buying” a foul.
Close is a very skilful player but for gods sake please pass forwards more.

Mom was a close call last night but think gotts just about edged it. His energy was tremendous would be interested to see the distance he covered last night.
What a change from his games last year.

Agree it was a close call on MOM but most good things about the way we've been playing recently, revolve around Gotts.

The irony of that being that McCann signed him and took over half a season to use him properly so he's only had an impact for the last few games, and he was previously sat watching Sbarra and Broadbent trot round the pitch.

He has turned out to be a great signing though and a great player. He also frees Bailey up in a way that others don't - Bailey not getting loads of plaudits for his performance last night, but Gotts running the show in the middle means Bailey can keep popping up in the box and looking dangerous more often.

Close is a very skilful player but for gods sake please pass forwards more.

He needs to have players in front of him making themselves available to receive a pass.
After the first twenty minutes Lee was dropping to the halfway line to try to get a touch of the ball.
When Okoronkwo is back it will be interesting to see how Lee fits into the line up.
Back to Close though, he was tremendous last night, always available and I don’t recall him misplacing any passes.

Gotts is ‘a must play’ footballer for us, like Owen Bailey. That’s how highly I rate him.

Gibson grew into the game but he does have a habit of giving the ball away cheaply. If that continues in his game then he has to start banging more goals & supplying more assists otherwise he will become a fringe player.

Ben Close is finally showing us what Grant said he would deliver in this division.

We’re still desperate for a proper No.9 as I’ve said elsewhere.

The problem last night was any speculative ball launched forward was quickly returned - with interest - from the visiting defenders. We had improved purchase at the top end when the first two subs were made whilst the latter two subs combined with the changed formation, gave us a much more comfortable ending to the game.

Everything is easy to comment on in hindsight.

I would have imagined that most of us on here would have said why are we signing him anyway in the first place, which doesn't even allow you to experiment with him and find his best place and become a huge asset
