Let's talk about the Lincoln City game
« on April 19, 2026, 03:00:33 pm by selby »
A game Lincoln might wish they had played on the original date if we can turn them over on Tuesday.
When the original date was cancelled we had no real confidence couldn't buy goals and had a defence like a seive, and in the kind of form that was starting to cause fears of relegation back to division 2.
In fairness Lincoln have gone on in that period to be able to look to become champions of the division and are still a great test, but a test against us that has become far more harder with our defence now more settled  and up front with Adekulan and Lee now looking more of a threat and posing defenders problems.
The game should attract a good attendance with partisan crowds of both clubs wanting a result Lincoln to push on to the title at the expense of Cardiff, and us not to lye down easily now we have survived that relegation fear.
Injuries apart I would like to see us unchanged  after two good wins and the test will be can we handle their free scoring forwards who all are dangerous and still score when not having the lions share of the ball their strong point, and a contrast to ourselves.
Can we attract a good crowd mid week? are we good enough to deny them another win on their march to the Championship?
Would you pick the same side if all are fit? are you bothered now we are safe about the remaining results?  What are you looking to get out of our remaining fixtures and results with the pressure off? Lot's to discuss and chew over, please have your say, Lincoln supporters welcome to comment.

Half my family are Imps ST holders. Let’s end their 26 game unbeaten run. I’d love the bragging rights trophy in our “ cabinet”
Ps the clever half of my family are Donny ST holders.RTID
26 the number of minutes held up for added time at their place when there was a medical incident with one of their fans…. We beat them.  Always feel reassured when that number pops up.

I would not play or have in the squad any players that will not  be here next season & replace them with any contracted fringe players or youth players.

We have to respect the league no matter what. We can’t just allow a club to celebrate on our home ground.

Lincoln have been very good and just need a point to confirm the title. I think they’ll be doing to us what we did to Notts County last year.

I wouldn’t experiment too much, go out and be competitive and try and have a run at the end of the year, and build some momentum. Same team to start for me.

Been on the bench recently so should be a easy job for a while at least

I thought Grant hinted that he would make some changes once safety was secured with a view to seeing who to retain for next season. TLT might lose his starting spot on Tuesday night for example.

An interesting stat I heard on NTT20 recently. Lincoln City have scored first more than any other side in the division.

In second place? Donny. Only the (probable) champions have scored the first goal more often than us.

What might've been, eh?

What that means for Tuesday I don't know. A 0-0 draw, probably.

Given how strong their form has been, it is hard to pick out much of a weakness but the slim pickings we have are that this season they have played 4 away league games on a Tuesday night and have drawn 2 and won only 2 games, against very poor sides in Exeter City and Northampton Town, both only 1-0.

Odds on that Street scores against us.

9/4 anytime
7/1 first scorer
7/1 last scorer
12/1 to score a header
25/1 to score from outside the box

Will the trophy be there - if Lincoln get a point will they do the presentation?

Unlikely, will be presented to them at their next home game. We only got it at Notts because it was the last game of the season.

Trying to jog my memory but we won the title away at Boston with a draw and then lifted the trophy at home to Carlisle the next game

I'm feeling a low scoring event. 0-0 a possibility.

Line-ups for these final 3 games will be very interesting now there’s nothing to play for.

If we play a strong team, I’m feeling a high scoring event.

3-2 to the Rovers. 28/1.

Looking at ticket website won’t be anywhere near that, shame really.

I think we’ll be lucky to get 9,500 tonight and that’s assuming 3,000 from Lincoln.
It’s a shame but there’s nothing to play for now and there’s a home game Saturday
