Away tickets - points allocation
« on May 07, 2026, 02:54:55 pm by silent majority »
On Monday of next week there’s a meeting to discuss the current away ticket and points allocation that currently exists at DRFC.

If anybody has any comments or changes they think should be discussed I'm happy to put those forward for you.

Just let me know on here, or by PM, and I'll put your case to the meeting. If you feel a need to discuss it first let me know and I'll call.

It does involve me personally unfortunately but could miles travelled be taken into consideration ..I read of season one fan who posted on X recently talked of over  20 away matches attended in involving  thousands of miles travel’.

I think the way tickets are released has improved after they tweaked the way they release them.

Supply outstripping demand doesn't occur frequently enough to warrant making the system more complex IMO.

So you who lives literally thousands of miles away can travel to 1 game and get more points than someone who lives in Doncaster a travels to 10 away games?

Haha wtf.

Does anyone know how many games actually sold out before general sale?

I think it’s fair too and I have minimal points compared to most. 45 I think I stand at currently, thats including next seasons season ticket.

I might be wrong here but my friend who is retired he goes and gets our away tickets does his account take the points. If that is the case although I am going away but not going or buying myself or online am I being penalised for not getting  then myself. I missed very few away matches last season thanks.

You only get points for your single ticket doesn’t matter if you’re buying more. A mate of mine buys his and his son’s but they get a point each

Think its as fair as it can be. There will always be people who will miss out, but can't remember too many games that sold out, before general sale. The joy of being in League one, with bigger stadiums. Having a season ticket pretty much guarantees getting any tickets you want.
I think the distance travelled option is a none starter, even if I do 360 mile round trip for a home game.

Agreed.

I know most EPL clubs, and quite a number in the Championship, have major issues with their away allocations because of allocations selling out every week. That's not a problem we currently have.

In my opinion it should even be less complex than it already is.

I don't think there were any this last season, they all went to General sale.

Personally I like the system but probably because it works in my favour. I’ve been to all home and away games league games this season and missed just 4 cup games

I live near Retford and have driven 7573 miles this season watching rovers

I like it, less of an issue at league one level but it seems to work fairly well.  My only grumble is if they make games like Burton pay on the night the points aren't awarded, that's a bit annoying, surely they could add them after or something?

Works well now and seems very fair. I thought at some stage they were going to capture all our spend at the club, shop, food etc to encourage loyalty and spend.

Not 1 game failed to make general sale. If Grimsby or Chesterfield come up that may be different with their small away ends

Works well as it currently is to be fair, did they ever explain the difference between loyalty and priority points?

Infact the only change i think would be good would be for a childs points should be the same as the attached adult? For example my son has 25 points but i currently have 86 meaning if he were to come to an away game i would have to wait until his points sale date arrives to get mine to ensure he can go aswell. If he is attached to me then i would like to be able to purchase his at the same time, not sure if anyone else with kids is in the same boat.

On Monday of next week there’s a meeting to discuss the current away ticket and points allocation that currently exists at DRFC.

If anybody has any comments or changes they think should be discussed I'm happy to put those forward for you.

I've raised this during this season, but there needs to be a step in the sales between the amount of points a season tickets hold, and general sale. Otherwise someone who makes it to, say, 20 games a season is in no better position to buy a ticket for a big game than someone who has never been to a game before.

It's an issue that largely effects exiles, but I'd say that's not an insignificant portion of our support these days.

What question that must have raised already prompted this discussion and what is wrong with the current system of accumulated points .

I've given up even trying to attend matches. They deleted me from the database. They wouldn't reinstate me - no record of purchases although I'd been a semi regular at the KM. Living 180 miles away too. No point  at all in trying to amass points for anything useful these days. I'm knocking on. I'd like the ability to turn up or phone up, buy a ticket, sit down and watch the match. They could take leaf out of Independiente de Medellín's book. Far better.

Are you saying, as it stands, you can't buy a ticket?

Just a question:
Would a points allocation be considered for supporters who live abroad and who purchase Rovers+ season ticket?

It seems to work well at the moment so just leave it as it is.

What’s been nice to see this season is there are clearly clubs out there allowing pay on the day. Like Northampton recently for example

There's been a lot more even though Rovers post there won't be. They also think they decide another teams policy on this which they can't.

Just a heads up for future buy on the day games…

I emailed the ticket office after the Burton game with proof of ticket and they added my point onto my account.

Nobody suggested we were reinventing the wheel.

Its just going in for its MOT, if it passes then it will be left alone.
