Bolton or Stockport?
« on May 18, 2026, 09:06:53 am by Barmby Rover »
I think I would prefer Bolton to be playing next season, however, I reckon they will beat Stockport at Wembley and Stockport will fancy themselves as a potential Lincoln next season. I am not sure that is how things will pan out for them, when the recruitment has happened in the summer I reckon Rovers could end up higher than them. I hope so anyway.

I hope so too but they’re far superior to us on the pitch and recruitment(budget) wise.

To be honest I don’t really care who the other 23 teams are.  Yes it’s great if there’s plenty of local and local ish opponents for bigger crowds and better away days, but really all I’m bothered about is what we do.

I think next season will be a much tougher league than this. You’d expect us to be better too of course but I wouldn’t be against a bet that we finish lower in the table than this season just gone.

Agreed though, not overly arsed who’s in the league just like good away days and some bumper away attendances for our home games will go a long way too in growing club.

I hope Stockport stay down for two selfish thoughts. Firstly, because they will swell our home attendance average for next season. Secondly it would show that clubs may need to build for more than two transfer windows to get out of this league whatever their ambitions. Who was the full back who refused to sign an extension contract on offer with us to  move to Stockport which he called a club with ambition (implying more ambition than DRFC  at the time )

That was Kyle Knoyle if my memory is correct.

Just put my double on for the weekend, Bolton and Notts County to win 5/1, not a bad price.

Bolton attendance was 10456 and Stockport was 7929 for the respective home game, given that the Bolton game was New Year’s Day and Stockport was a Tuesday in December, I’d say that Bolton staying down would be better financially. And besides that I’ve never particularly liked Bolton, since they couldn’t be bothered turning a side out against us during the Moore period, so I’d be more than happy for them to lose in the final.

If you don't like Bolton, I'm with you there, cheats, maybe it is better they leave and then we don't have to put up with them. A bit like not wanting to play Millwall.

I presume Challinor must have something lined up?

He’s done an amazing job at Stockport in his 5 years there. National League to top-three in League One, two seasons running.

I know there will be disappointment after missing out in the play-offs again, but he’ll be a hard act to follow.
