The screen will be very welcome as an addition, the problems with the pitch will be with us as long as the club can't afford the sophisticated lighting system to get grass to grow out of season (for plants). I did notice that they have some mobile lighting units, hopefully they can use some of that solar panel electricity to do some work during the next winter.

Barmy, the lights only promote grass growth whilst the soil temperature is above 7 degrees C.  The time when the pitch damage occurs is during the three or four months when the grass can't grow due to temperature, not light.  UV lighting is useful largely only for clubs with undersoil heating able to maintain the requisite temperature.

No Extra Heat Required: UV light does not intrinsically require heat to function. Most modern UV LEDs are highly energy-efficient and generate very little heat .

Quite right. You only have to look at the condition of the pitch at similar times around January by watching highlights of previous seasons.  Our wonderful varied climate plays a huge part and when the worst weather sometimes clashes with home games, which we would rather not postpone, compromises have to be made, particularly as it's a multi use stadium.  There is a point however when artificial measures at high cost, just isn't worth the outlay.

All these artificial measures sound great as long as someone else pays for them.

I'm just wondering what may happen if we play a well supported team, beat them and they attempt to kick the big screen in!

If its going to be situated anything like it was in the south west corner it will need some sort of separation from the away fans?

It isn't the lighting that needs heat to function, it's the grass that needs 7c+ to grow regardless of the light available.

The nights will be drawing in soon as winter approaches, best get as much growing time in as possible.

Couple of points regarding the new screen
- I had assumed the new location to be in the north east corner where the clock used to be.
If it is to be in the north west it will be difficult for those sitting in the west towards the south stand to see it clearly.
- for some time I have become irritated when particularly late in the game I look to the screen to see how long there is to play only to find that adverts are being shown. The comments made about digital screens around to touch lines would hopefully limit postings in the screen
