New rules in the world cup

If you need the physio on for a foul without a yellow card, you're  off for 1 minute. It seems a success to me and I hope the comes into league 1.

We already have that but the current time is 30 seconds.  I knew we had that rule, but hadn’t realised players had to wait so long before returning - I often wondered why the ref seemed to take ages to wave players back on, and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one.

I mentioned it elsewhere, but what do you make of the speeding up of throws and corners? It does give more of a fluid game, cuts out actual time wasting, but maybe knackering the players.

Currently that effect is partly eased by the drinks break, but what I saw in the Canada Bosnia game was stupid long, and made that way for ads. Next up the US getting the quarter time breaks of 5 or 10 mins for ads. That would be terrible.

I really cannot see why we need drinks breaks for night games where the temperatures are cooler.
No doubt it is all part of FIFA's plans to make games 4 quarters to suit the yanks.

I guess it is to ensure all teams are treated the same..

Yep, because that ethos of treating everyone the same shines through this World Cup  :silly:

God help us next season if they bring this 5 second throw-in rule into domestic football.

It would be an improvement on the thirty seconds it often takes players to take a throw in when it suits their cause.

Yep, far better to have away teams hanging on for a draw after equalising after 75 minutes plus by taking up to a minute to take one after ‘simulating’ a throw only then to drop the ball for a teammate to pick up then in turn dwell on, pass it back to their defence & gain another throw as the home team press then ‘rinse & repeat’ as an overweight official allows them to blatantly waste time much to the fans chagrin.

Time methinks to stop searching out black & white football video recordings in order to pathetically equate them to later decades/years & concentrate more on what ‘simple innovations’ can do to make the game a better spectacle for tomorrow’s supporters by stopping blatant time wasting tactics.

By 'us' I am guessing you mean Sterry and Senior. I don't think either has every taken a throw in faster than 30 seconds. As for Maxwell, maybe that's why they got rid of him :).

Yep that's what I mean. But I don't blame the throwers. Our movement for throw ins is shocking. It's like we never practice them and we wait for someone to decide to make a laboured jog. Lee made a difference but the absence of any structured plan is horrible to see every week.

We are going to go back to the 'throw it down the line for a Peter Heritage flick on'.
