I reckon we'll be paying about a third (£7k) of his wages, with Huddersfield paying the other £14k.

At a guess, what do we all reckon we’re contributing to the £20k p/w wage he’s on at Huddersfield?

8k...

Or perhaps we aren’t paying him all this mega money because he’s still receiving a certain amount from his time at Birmingham City, and the promotion bonus he got there, allegedly

If he’s going to scrap anything, i’d like to see him scrap his idea of a ‘10’/the more advanced midfielder of his 3. They haven’t really offered much imo.

So 2 strikers but not in the traditional 442 sense, Alfie can play in pocket and we’d have more fluidity up top which we definitely haven’t had.

Molyneux likes cutting in, we’ve got this Ayinde who looks a prospect and we’ve got Adelakun (good when he’s arsed) and a new one to join. But what we haven’t got is anyone who will make it stick up there. Hanlan is a workhorse but nothing really stuck to him either.

I fear unless we get that, we’re gonna have more of the same next season. We don’t have the quality in our ranks to consistently outplay play teams so you need that that ‘out’ up top.

Thinking of players I saw last season, someone like Christian Saydee from Wigan would work well with Alfie I think. Physical, athletic player who drops deep in to that no.10 space anyway. Wouldn’t require a huge change in system for Grant. Would basically be a 4-4-1-1. Seemed to drop out of favour at Wigan.

I like your 4-4-2 idea just can’t see Grant doing it.

I don't get the negativity.   He has a good record at this level.   He has a great work ethic and the right personality.

Add this to the fact hes delight to be here will show the effort will be there.

What's the fascination with what he get's paid, it's nothing to do with us.
And apart from that, be thankful that if he get's paid well and the clubs benefactor is willing to fund the club like he does, and how we the supporters enjoy the benefits of that with very value for money season tickets and the calibre of the team that entertain us most weeks, and bring us down to earth on other occasions, and I for one would have it no other way.

Over the moon Alfie is back. We should never have let him go in the first place.

A player who always gives 100%, when he left us he wasn't a big goalscorer but now we have the finished article. Not sure how anyone can complain personally!

When was the last time we had a player valued at over £1 million playing for us? It could have only been Billy, and we were in the Championship then, To get one in League 1 is fantastic.

Talking of Alfie and Billy being our last two million quid players, I wonder how the pair would get on together as twin strikers?

Would love to see Michael Smith join him up front, but most likely out our range, then again,I thought Alfie was!

Have I had a bang to head and not been told, what’s going on here?

Its a great signing for us, we have to remember who we are.

My guess is if anyone else was in charge at Doncaster apart from Mccann and he hadn't got an effection for the club (guess what.... because he has been here before) there would be no way shape or form we would have had a chance with Alfie.  But recruitments crap and we shouldnt sign players who have been here before should we.

I was impressed by him when we played them and thought he looked like a forward for Grant’s team. Not sure how he did in the season overall but seemed to be very good back to goal

We’ve got Bailey and molyneux playing for us now, both are worth more than a million

I would argue against Molyneux pulling in a million.

It’s nonsense anyway, Alfie’s not valued at over £1M

That’s me out of this conversation, some crazy comments.

Hopefully he smashes the league to bits.

So in ten months he’s gone from being worth 1.2 million to it being considered nonsense to suggest he’s worth over 1 million

He’s been farmed out on loan to another club and they’re willingly subsidising his pay. So yes

(I am actually out of this conversation now).

What you have to understand is,Alfie has 2 yrs left on contract at Huddersfield, for anyone to buy him/buy him out currently would cost over 1million.
