Looked a bit more than that to me.

under 2k for a game at sheff weds is piss poor away turnout

would say likes of rotherham, barnsley and chesterfield would have done well over the 2k mark

any reasons for the bad away following 2nite

Our away support isn't what it was in League's 1 and 2. I think the novelty factor was worn off since our promotion from the Conference.
We tend to take between 1000-2000 to most games, but rarely more than 2000.
Whilst our home attendances have increased, our away followings have decreased. I just dont think there's the interest there.

Moving away from numbers, I thought our vocal support was excellent tonight, there was a vibrant atmosphere and I don't think I can recall hearing a single grumble. What we lacked in numbers, we made up for in spirit and everyone who was there deserves a pat on the back for that, certainly outsung 20,000 home fans.

i must say for the amount we took they are saying our support was good i thought it was shocking i thought the majority who posted on ere wanted to stand for 90 mins and create a better atmosphere, i moved to back row after kick off and sang away all through the game nobody was interested even at 2-0 up i expected more from our fans it not very often we get to beat the fowls in there own yard it seemed like there were 3 different parts singing instead of coming together as one i was happy none the less with the game

I thought it was ok. Although, someone had a go for me standing when we scored.

Oh for the days of away followings like at Scunny, Mansfield and York in League 2.

Still, who gives a fcuk. We won.

i suppose its down to perception again, as i thought the vocal support from our fans was great tonight. i was sat a few rounds down and to the right of the \"left side\" guys and thoroughly enjoyed it tonight, my throat is fcuked :D

We sat to the right of everyone at the top (moved around a bit at half time coz of the bloody posts blocking our view of the near goal    ) and I thought we sounded awesome.
Yeah, it was the minority who sang for 90 mins, but towards the end everyone I could see were joining in singing Billy sharp and the more traditional rovers songs, although I was getting bored of the \"Jelly and ice-cream when richardson dies\" chant by the end  B)

Now as i am in the now with everything that goes off in the wednesday press office. Remeber the adding of 2000 onto the attendance for the same fixture last season to save face?

Well guess what, we are down 700 fans who somehow managed to get lost between the ticket office and the away end.

Funny That and which if you add it up is roughly the 3rd in money they lost by reducing the ticket prices a 3rd.

2 words : Tax I______n?

A fowl has told me the official figure was 1300. Surely alot more than that as the Keepmoat site had over 1400 showing on Monday morning.

Rovers support sounded fabulous on the commentary. I can't remember it ever sounding louder. Or longer.

Maybe your trying it on like Barnsley do. Like claiming we took 2000 when we filled the stand behind the goal.

I can't see it but you never know, we'd have no reason to though mind, as you send us the details of tickets sold, a few POTG may go missing (although that is fraud so again I doubt it but this is football)

So 1400 advance plus around 1/3 again POTG sounds about right

I thought where I was stood to the left of the stand that the atmosphere was good.

Anyone also on the 17:42 train? Great atmosphere on there going to the game loads of fans singing and getting in the spirit before the game  :)

To add equal balance to the stand up/sit down argument, there was a couple of old boys behind me on the back row and they were singing and dancing, standing up, shouting and absolutely enjoying themselves all night long - never once did they complain about people standing up, even though a lot of people in the same age group probably would have done.

I thought out support was over 2,000 as well to be honest. Probably knocking on the door of 2,500, actually. Even still, regardless of that, what an absolutely quality night it was. Hammering your local rivals playing a stylish brand of football and making them look totally stupid... now that's what football is all about!

nowhere near 2,500 pal, there was at least two blocks to the South side empty and the one at the North Stand had no more than a handful in it.

You make the point that THEY WERE STANDING ON THE BACK ROW so there wouldn't be anyone objecting,

I thought the atmosphere was great all night long regardless of the sitting or standing argument.

There was around 1700 at hillsbro, the figure they are quoting is about right. we seem to be obsessed with our away support at the moment? why because our home one is so poor? Its the home one that we should be concerened about because that brings more money into the club. As i've stated before the good away support last season was due to the new grounds and biggest clubs we've played for ages euphoria, this season is back to the norm. As regards to the Barnsley one, what figure did they give out now around 4.5k away support for the first game? that was about right, their end holds 5,800 (with segregation) and the end third near their big side stand wasn't full that night and there was plenty of seats down at the front (even after seeing pics of this stand from the night) The second season we played them in League one (Mulli volley) they put the segregation net half way down the stand so we only had one half and that was only around half/two thirds full, so around 2-2.5k Rovers fans. I didn't go last season but l gather we only filled around half of it? So clearly the first time we play Barnsley in 25 years we take 4.5k then we take around 2-3k the following season so this seems to be the average derby following.

Walkley, what have the other two SY clubs brought to Hillsbro? Did both sell out? because l think on a whole the away support is down, Sheff U taking 1700 to Oakwell for the game on Sky!

Jim dobbin the first season in league one the official figure at Barnsley was given as 5500 and the following season 4100. Last season was ready out at the stadium and was 3700 I believe.

Barnsley brought 4,799 on the opening day

United play at ours on the 18th of April, around 5,500 allocated.

United took 1700 to Barnsley as you say, 1400 to Forest

5,500 in a 5,800 stand, where are they lying about the figures then? it definately weren't a sell out and l find it hard to believe there was 5k there? seemed more than a thousand seats spare from where l was sat and from the pics. 4,100 the following season? the net was put half way down the stand, l was sat a few seats from it so there cant have been more than 3k there.
