As an example Cat C family of four (2 adults, 1 x 17-20 + 1 x 12-16) have an increase of £170 if they don't pay up in the next four weeks from £885 to £1055. For families budgeting to pay before the end of may they see it as a kick in the teeth by the club.
Some ridiculous logic going on here. You have a ST for the cheapest seats in our ground. Your mates appear to have chosen some of the most expensive in their ground. At Sheffield Wednesday, the cheapest Kop STs this season were about £320 if bought early.Don't know what the Scunny ST prices were, but since the cheapest seats at Glanford Park are £15-16, I'm guessing your mate doesn't have a ST there. More likely he's in the West Stand - the most expensive seats with the best view.At Leeds, the price you quote is for relatively expensive seats down the side of the pitch. At Derby, the cheapest ST, bought early was £320.Look at some counter examples. I could get a ST in the cheapest seats at for example, Cardiff (£329) or Leicester(£345) for next season for less than I will pay for mine at the KM (£380). I could have got a ticket on the Kop at Bramall Lane this season for less than I paid for mine this year. Does that mean we should be reducing prices? Compare like-with-like if we're going to have a sensible discussion. The proof of the pudding of course will be in the take-up. I strongly suspect that the club has shot itself in the foot by giving such a short deadline and, in particular, hitting the poorer fans in ther Cat C seats.A tenner says there's a sudden change of plan when ST sales are woeful during March.
In the corners by definition you have poorer views than, for example, a seat on the halfway line. In the corner, you are the best part of 150m away from the far corner flag. At the halfway line, you are no more than 70m or so from any part of the pitch. You see more detail and have a better view of the overall action.Pretty much all grounds with filled-in corner design have lower prices in the corners than in other parts of the ground. That includes Old Trafford, Wembley, and the examples of Cardiff and Leicester that I gave earlier. We have made an extraordinary decision in pricing the corner seats at the same level as those further up the touchline or behind the goal. it defies simple economics. Who in their right mind is going to choose to pay top whack for the worst seats in the house, when they can have a better seat for the same price? The only sensible economic rationale for doing this would have been if the ground was regularly sold out, with a queue of people prepared to pay higher prices just to get their hands on ANY ticket. As I say, the proof will be in the ST sales for the corners over the next few weeks. I suspect that many people will find it really difficult to stump up the cash at such short notice, when they had been expecting (like in previous seasons) to have until the end of May to find the money. If the sales are poor in March, expect to see swathes of empty corner seats next year, or a sudden back-tracking by the club in April.
Apparantly John Ryan is to explain the reasons tonight on radio sheffield, should be inetresting.....Did you hear the snippet on the 8.20 sport this morning on radio Sheffield? Said basically that the club is at a crossroad and the directors had put £6 million in over the past 3 years. Needs the fans to do their bit if we want to push on next season and try and get to the Prem.
