The thought of Fulham having to meet a mere northern pub team? It doesn't bear thinking about.

I saw a bit of the Fulham-Spurs match on Saturday and thought how much Fulham reminded me of us. Intelligent possession football - some journeymen players welded into a very effective and attractive unit - a laudable lack of reliance on the big boot and the stiff tackle - very dodgy against the high balls into the box.

A match between them and us would be very easy on the eye. By contrast, they are having regular unseemly grapples with violent and nasty Premiership makeweights like Portsmouth, Blackburn, Bolton, Stoke and Sunderland, whose only tactics when I've seen them on the box seem to be to kick seven shades of shite out of the opposition.

Take Bolton for example. Between them this season, Davies, Muamba and Cohen have committed more than 50% as many fouls as our entire first team squad put together. Even though they've had only 80% of the matches that we have played.

Every single club in the Premiership has received more yellow cards than we have this season. Bolton, Sunderland and Portsmouth have received more than twice as many as us.

So where do the unseemly grapples take place?

FLJ.
