An idea on recruitment
« on March 11, 2010, 07:30:03 pm by DonnyBazR0ver »
For one match only: Sat April 3rd v Plymouth.

1. All season ticket holders give up their right to their allotted seat and we have the whole stadium as unreserved seating.

2. All season ticket holders are empowered to use a voucher in their book to exchange for a match day ticket to introduce a friend etc., at a nominal cost of £5 or £10.

3. Season ticket holder buys unreseved ticket for friend at ticket office, or over the phone etc.

4. Match day. First come first served sit where you like.
You can sit in groups etc, just like you used to do in the old days.

Let's see how many we can get in to that stadium. It may also give us an idea how well (or not) having unreserved areas may benefit.

5. The club promotes their balls off to the extra folks we get in.

In principle what do you think ?I think we could make it work.

in principal it would be brilliant, in practice it will never happen, purely because the police/club wont allow a full unreserved seating match (at a guess)

I Can't see how the police would be bothered as long as the segregation between home and away fans was maintained.

We might need a little more help on the stewarding side to help people find seats, but other than that, I think we could overcome most problems.

Some people paid into a scheme to pick exactly where and with whome they sat before the move from Belle Vue to the KM.This foresight and investment worked well for me thanks and I would be unwilling to give up my premium seat to a new supporter. A winning team is the only way we will continue to improve gates but has anyone thought of this.
If the Rovers did get promotion to the premiership how many of our existing season ticket holders could afford a season ticket at pemiership prices.
The equivalent price to my seat at the Emirats is £57 a match to ST holder and £67 turn up on the day and all away tickets are expensive.
I would think that we would sell out every game with the glory supporters but if we went down the first season would we still sell 8000 again I dont think so and we could have lost some of our old supporters because of cost.
Thats what makes JRs offer of the first season free so good if it comes off but a lot of very good supporters who go to home and away games would be unable to carry on going to every game the following season because of cost.

Guys, we are talking a one off event as a recruitment drive.

If your determined not to give up your seat, get there early.

If you want to get in to the spirit of the day, you and your recruited frinds etc, can sit where ever you like, if not in your own seat.

If I got to my seat, and someone in it, I'd go and shake their hand and say, enjoy the view, enjoy the game, go and get yourself a season ticket.

The hole idea is to get new or lost people back watching their home town team and to give the club an opportinity to promote to people who wouldn't otherwise be there.

Can't speak for everyone, but I chose where I sit carefully and deliberately (for a handful of different reasons) and I'd never choose to give it up.

We could try this at a cup game, this way (unless a huge prem team)tickets go on general sale straight away (maybe cotorgorise the game depending on the opponent level) League 1, 2 & ccc unreserved seating, Prem games STH buy first

its a good idea but maybe a cup game would be the best way to try it out but then its waiting while next season to do it, but i cant see many of the sth's being up for this, it is a good idea but on the practical side cant see it working to be fair cant see there being a great crowd for that game anyway

I;m not being funny but I do quite like my seat, and the people that sit around me. I don't see how this idea would get many more fans in, if any, it's easy enough if you wanna bring a friend to get two + seats together as the ground is rarely full. Plus, people pay varying rates for season tickets in different areas.

On a slightly related theme - I've been at an FA Funded seminar tonight called \"Grow your club\". The chap putting on the seminar works with loads of different sports clubs and looked very much like SOD!

The seminar was about growing and developing clubs regardless of size. The tutor mentioned number of various examples from football (professional, non-league and grassroots), rugby, cricket etc. On the topic of people not listening and resisting change, he mentioned a professional club who were given a development document by its own fans and simply looked at it and ignored it! I wonder which club that was - he never did say, but I think we all know who it is!

We get good publicity on Radio Dee Daa and I heard a good idea on there. Why not offer another season ticket holder the chance to turn up on match day produce his ST and get a ticket for a tenner and pick up some Donny Owls, Blades and Weeds.
It could generate a bit more income.

The point here is we are at least thinking how we can boost ST sales and recruit new fans. I wish the club were as forward thinking and came up with more radical ideas to get people in, instead of relying on fleecing the die hards for more money.

The whole football experience AND cost, needs looking at.

Bradford, Huddersfield have taken an initiative and ST sales have been boosted. OK they may not have money in the bank, but given a bit more success their revenue can only go one way. Bradford particularly have a fan base now that many would envy.

I'm all for recruitment , but why should i lose my seat where i'm sat with a great group of people for someone to turn up early & nick my seat. Set of early you say , but again i & many others travel further to watch the Rovers than most Doncaster based fans. We travel eighty miles & set of early any earlier will not be possible due to work comitments. Why should we anyway as we like where we sit and don't want to sit else where, why not the new  'fan' taking up one of the many spare seats at the Keepmoat? If you want top sit with the new fan then swop your seat & sit with them, that shouldn't cause anyone else a problem.

The Police like to know who's sat in each seat, they can just point there cameras at someone they're interested in and get a name quickly.

OK. Well as P,lymouth will bring less than 1000, we can use the other 2000 speces in the North stand, by utilising the partitions (it has been done before)to segregate.

Our guests could use this area. Probably better then as JR and co can weave their magic in trying tosell tickets to them.

AND, anyone who's bought a final six for five, let them bring a friend too.

Lets just go for it and generate some interest.

I did not know that the concourse in the North stand could be segregated?

If this is true then this surely is the answer  :woohoo:  STH who don't want to move will be happy  :woohoo:  the singers will be happy  :silly:  and under the same roof as the away fans

Great idea Baz

They were segregated for the Crewe game in the JPT.

It's good to know, Nath, that knowledge exists outside Doncaster about what supporters of the Rovers attemnpted. It means that word has spread. And that means that one day word will get back to JR one way or another. Somebody will mention it in his hearing sometime. And that might generate a reaction or two :) It's also good for the reputation of Rovers supporter too. It gives us, as a group, significant credibility. I do wonder if we should not try to exploit that credibility.... Perhaps you could find that speaker again Nathan? Talk to him about his knowledge, and about what he suggests to break down the resistance. does he know anybody with real serious credibility that we could talk to? Maybe we could update the damn thing and have it presented in a different way? Of course, any such re-presentation would have to discuss the organisational weakneeses that led to the failure of the previous attempt..... :):):) Can I draft that part? Please? Please?!

Cheers
