next season's home games?????????
« on March 16, 2010, 11:00:44 pm by LongbridgeMGRover »
it is going to happen.

Rovers beat the Scabs at Wembley in May to fulfil our Roy of the Rovers destiny.

now that makes me very optimistic about crowds next year, but is there a snag ?

the Keepmoat i believe has been designed to have another 5,000 seats added, but how long would that take to do? is there planning permission already?

and could the current capacity be kept while any building work was going on or would it actually be reduced?

unfavourable answers to any of the above may lead to another scenario .................

the Rovers help out cash strapped Sheffield Wednesday by playing at Hillsborough in front of 25,000 crowds. or if Leeds balls it up in their lower league play offs, then maybe we could play at Elland Road? or even the KC?

As Hull look certain to come down, we will be the pride of Yorkshire, and be packing them in from all corners of the county.

do i need a sedative in my Horlicks to help me sleep tonight, i am so excited !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it could be extended to 25k? the foundations are in place behind the East & South stands to extend backwards and upwards.

Talk of the play offs, for me anyway, is very premature. We have some difficult games ahead and at this point I'd be happy with mid table again. As long as we are safe, that's my main concern.

The original design for the new stadium had provision for 5,000 extra seats. The design we got in the end doesn't.

IF we ever get into the Premiership I don't doubt we'd need a bigger capacity. As it stands we don't ever fill the ground, so it's unlikely to happen - especially as it'd be Rovers who have to find the money for it this time around.

Yes, I think you do need a sedative, btw. ;)

Yep. The original design had the option to expand to 20k, the design we ended up with doesn't. From what i've heard, it would mean completely demolishing an entire stand and rebuilding (at Rovers expense) Something I doubt could be done in a close season. Then you have to ask the question, would it ultimately be worth it if we did ever get to the Premiership. The cost would probably outweigh the benefits.

Should we reach the promised land and 'take the money and run' as SOD remarked recently, then we could invest in the Stadium.

Would not be ready this time around but, the extra revenue may be enough to finally do the deal with the council, and expand the revenue streams to offset costs of extra capacity. I'm sure there would also be investment in the training ground etc.

These things don't happen overnight and I'm sure JR and SOD would not chuck it all away on transfers and wages.

Ah, you refer to \"the Pins\".  If you look closely at the floor outside the south stand you can see where they are.

Sure I remember jr saying that one side could be done in the close season by taking the roof off and going up and back which would give an extra 5,000 seats

it still says on the big sign outside the stadium that it is expandable...
