Tickets question
« on March 26, 2010, 08:13:58 pm by Rios »
Could someone explain why our ticket office doesn't open after games?  I can understand them not wanting to sell tickets for other games in the 2/3 hours before a home game and that's fair enough.  But I've lost count of the amount of clubs I've been to this season where their fans have bought tickets for upcoming home/away games after a home fixture.

Gartom, could this not be suggested?  It'd be a massive help to an exile like myself or anyone else who can't get to the KM easily...

That seems like an excellent idea to me although I usually have extra tickets either posted out or ask for them to be left at reception. I have always had 1st class service from the ticket office unlike some others. It would be another option though and every way to increase the fanbase ought to be looked at.

I can only say what I see but the ticket office ladies have always been absolutely spot on with me as well and are always helpful and have a smile, despite it being a thankless job.

Personally I don't have a credit card so it does cause major issues when I can't get across.  I've paid at the gate at over 2/3 of the away games I've been too this season purely because it isn't feasible for me to get over to Donny in the working week and turning up four hours before kick off just to buy an away ticket is lunacy.

I'm picking my tickets up tomorrow for Donny v Barnsley at the Barnsley ticket office so I thought I'd check their opening hours, as our ticket office closes at kick off, and the lady says \"normal office hours love, till five o'clock\" . And it's like that at every ground I've picked my tickets up from. Donny ticket office keep some queer hours, and the whole buying process at donny seems hard to access and use, spent 29 minutes listening to answering machine this morning. No way would they cope with a jump up into Premiership.

Someone before the Newcastle game said they were refused tickets because they weren't on the SMC database if I remember correctly.
I witnessed the very same thing whilst buying my Barnsley ticket on Friday.
A guy a couple of people in front of me wanted to buy nine for the Dingles game, but because they couldn't find him on the database they wouldn't sell them to him. Now pardon my ignorance, but how the hell are fans who aren't on the database meant to purchase tickets?
Said person was far from happy and left empty handed.

Now as if things couldn't get any worse, the person immediately in front of me wanted to renew his season ticket. He hadn't had his renewal letter through. The ticket office said they couldn't renew without him filling in the renewal first or something? They told him he would have to leave and download it from the website and come back another day. He explained he didn't have the internet, and was told he would have to find someone who did. Why don't the ticket office have forms to fill in at the ticket office?

Now, when poor ticket sales are announced, the club need to look at how badly the SMC are running the ticket office. They are making it so difficult for people to buy tickets.

When I visited on Friday there were about 9 or 10 people waiting, with one person on the desk who obviously couldn't be bothered, which is why I believe she palmed off these excuses to the people she would have actually had to do some work with. The phone was ringing non stop with no one answering.

We need to get the basics right. We potentially lost 10 fans in the space of a few minutes on Friday. I wonder how many times this is replicated each week and the knock on effects it has?

I hope the people involved post on here or at least air their feelings to the club and SMC in some way.

Agree with a lot of that Mr Frost, we have always had good service from the ticket office but, if they can't get Donny folk interested in the Rovers, they may as well try from other areas. We live 20 miles away but still have a DN postcode fortunately.  Yes, they should have copies for people without internet access.  Sometimes seems like they miss the obvious at times.  Let the people see what they are missing, Donny folk or not!!!

Well we must have sold shitloads of st's this week then, because when i was in the TO on Tuesday afternoon renewing my 4 there were loads of application/renewal forms to the end of the counter on the right hand side in a holder for people to use.

If there were, and I'm not saying there weren't any skellow, why didn't the ticket office lady point them out to the person. Like i said it was quite busy, she was the only one working. I don't think she could be bothered with the hassle.

If that's the case then it's piss poor on her part and it needs sorting. Why do they need your dad to go to the TO in person btw? they are usually ok with renewing by post. I would call them and see what the crack is because to be honest everytime i've dealt with the TO they have usually been spot on and gone out of their way to help with things.

Your right. I really shouldn't mention the fact how hard they make it sometimes.
Skellow, I don't know, he has renewed though by going in, but the ticket office does send out mixed messages.

Maybe you should go with Mr Frost, and experience the bad service, he seems to be the only one that has had or witnessed a bad experience every time he`s gone there

Every time? I think not. Are you suggesting i'm making this up? Someone the other day had the exact same problem I witnessed. Maybe they are making it up aswell.

Filo, you are obviously not open to any kind of critisism about the way the club or SMC run things. Just because you don't experience any problems, doesn't mean others don't. What will your thoughts be if season ticket sales are poor?

Feel free to criticise all you like, but I can`t recall a positive post from you about anything, all we ever read from you day, day out is whinge, whinge, whinge!

No doubt in Frost's eyes, SOD's getting it wrong and the club's not shown enough ambition in recent years.  Someone said that to me yesterday, I think they must have a serious lack of brain cells to moan about the position of our club at the moment.

I've never once mentioned SOD here or how we are performing on the pitch. That speaks for itself. My grips is with the SMC and Rovers off the pitch. Some people are just too stubborn to take off the rose tinted specs and won't have a bad word said about anything.

JR says we need fans through the gates. When it doesn't happen, there is only one reason why that will be.

Although I do agree to a certain extent that the current ticket set-up certainly doesn't help us achieve higher gates, I wouldn't go so far as to say that it is the \"only reason\" - that's putting the point a bit too far!  The fact that we have or the last 10 - 15 years been a small fish in a large pond in terms of the football on offer locally may have something more to do with this!
