Just because it's the school holidays doesn't mean you have to forget everything you've been taught in English lessons!

i think yesterday showed while Paul is not really in SOD'S plans,Heffs played pretty well but he had 3 or 4 good chances and didnt convert one...And thats what hes there to do.If he would have tucked one away he might have been able to resurect his rovers career but alas like spicer and guy his Rovers adventure is coming to a end....

Who would convert those chances though? Sharp? Yes. He most probably won't be here next season so what do we do? Play a 4-6-0?

No point saying we needed him back on Saturday...it was clear that Sharp wasn't left out til the last minute, and I think it's a bit much to expect Heffs to play twice in as many days, he scored for Bristol Rovers on friday.

He played well yesterday, shame he couldn't grab a goal.

If he'd scored a dozen on Monday it wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference to his future with the Rovers. Last season he scored at a better rate than Sharp has managed this year. It didn't prevent him from being dropped as soon as this season started (or as soon as we were practically safe LAST season come to think of it).

He was out the door the moment that we signed Sharp back in August, and there is nothing that he could have doine on Monday or that he could do over the next four matches to change that.

I might have to change the habit of a lifetime and agree with you Billy, although i have to say i cant disagree with SOD'S descision,Sharp contributes much more to the game than heff's ever will.Heffs has been brilliant for us but i dont think he is championship level.I know you will bang on about his goals last year but even to stand still at this level we need better than Paul. There didnt seem to be many lowly Championship clubs wanting him on loan.League 1 is where his career is suited at this time of his career.Like i said he has been fantastic and we wouldnt be where we are without him but i cant argue his time has come....

We have always got to improve in every position. If we can afford it, be it loan or signed, on what we already have.....then it must be done, regardless of whoever that player is, who will be improved upon.

Heffs is a victim of this. Billy is better for this team than what Heffs is. Sorry and all that, but that is true. It might only be an opinion from me, but it's an opinion I feel strongly about and will argue til the cows come home. Nothing or nobody will convince me otherwise. (and what about when Billy go's back, I hear you say.....well I am sure another loan/signed player will come in or we will return to Heffs)

In the same breath, I'm not saying Heffs should leave the club neither, but I feel Heffs may need a move if he's not first choice.

As I say, I look forward to the day when we are improving and replacing JOC, Stock, Woods, Sulli, Copps, Roberts et al.....as it can only make us a stronger team.

For the record, Heffs had a good point blank header saved, he had a couple of chances in that goal mouth scramble......and I really wished he had tucked any of those away. Heffs had a good game yesterday.

Well done Paul

I was watching Sky Sports Soccer Special.  Paul Walsh was one of the studio guests and he was watching the Rovers game.  He said he couldn't believe the decision.  Nailed on penalty and to add insult to injury Heffernan gets booked for diving.  I had hoped to see it on FL show but should have known better really!

I was there, and it looked like a penalty to me.

Even if the view from the stand wasn't the best, Heffs is not the sort of player who would dive, especially in those circumstances, as he was just about to shoot, so I reckon we were hard done by there.

Could've been a different game too if that would have been given.

I thought Heffs' overall performance was very good yesterday. He looked hungry, gave his all, and he led the line very well - running the channels, linking up with the midfield, and holding the ball up well. He was very unlucky not to get the penalty, and even more unlucky not to score. The keeper produced 2 or 3 good saves from Heff's efforts, and he was unlucky with a clever lob in the 2nd half which went just over, and had another effort in the 2nd half cleared off the line when he held off a defender and shot from a difficult angle.

From what I heard on commentary, from Paul Walsh and now, having seen the penalty, it is another one to add to the list of 'I can't beleive the ref didn't give it', of which there has been too many this season.

On Heffernan's performance it sounded and looked like he's benefitted from the games at Bristol. However, a striker at this level should be putting at least one of them away.

He did look stronger and hungrier however I think it would be best all round for Heff's to start afresh somewhere else.

I'm not sure Billy is the answer to all our prayers (even if we could sign him) He has reminded us of what a front man should be capable of with his never say die attitude, strength and scoring although, he has not taken some key chances in the last few games.

Agreed DonnyBaz, but I every striker misses some (unless your name is Messi) and to be honest, he's only been presented with about one chance per game in recent weeks.  Although when he went on his run of six, he was still only getting one a game but putting it away.

I think we've seen enough of what Billy brings to be sure he's an absolutely vital player for us.  Just wish we'd seen him played with more support, because that's when the goals have been scored.
