Looking at it from the point of how many players we're likely to lose this summer, it looks like it could be a very busy one for the club.  It looks like it could be the end of an era in some ways with many players who've been here a while looking likely to be on the way out.

On that point, I wondered what other fans see as our main targets for players in the summer, be it positions or even names.  I wonder what the budgets will be like etc and if we'll see any sales?  So many questions and lots of uncertaintly, am I the only one a little worried that we may see a lot of changes this summer?  In some respects it could set us back or could see us push on, I worry about which way it'll go.  I prefer a consistent squad but with Sharp headed back and Heffs, Guy out of contract, I do wonder.

None of us really know the situations on contracts with players and it's something I think we could do with knowing about.  It does worry me.

in truth...im not overly worried. i trust in JR and SOD to do whatever is necessary in the summer to get us a stable squad.

in truth i can see most of our defense and midfield staying...with maybe a couple of additions, but the big changes will be up front. as we've already said, its looking like billy wont be here, heffs and guy both going....so we desperately need some strikers.

Depending on who has what left on their contract I feel the Goalkeeper and Striking positions need an awful lot of research doing. Potentially we have three strikers to replace to keep the depth of the squad. It's also clear that Smudger or Gary Woods don't seem to be cerain successors to Sully when the time arises, I think that needs sorting out too.

Oster needs to be tied down for another year and Elliot Ward needs looking into.

One thing that JR could be right about is the levelling of off the playing field.

With many clubs downsizing their budgets the chance to pick up a few good signings and bargains may not be as big a pipedream as some people would want us to believe.

I'd say we'd probably lose or release:

Wilson
Sharp
Heffs
One at least of Webster/Locky/Hird
Guy

Also if we get a decent offer for either Stock, Woods, Shiels or O'Connor (our only saleable assets) I reckon we will sell 1 of these.

I'd expect a good quality striker in on a season loan, and maybe a speculative cheap transfer for a small fee.

If two midfielders leave we need at least one all round midfielder, and an enforcer type.

One central defender from either Shackell or Ward, preferably both, but Shackell if pushed. Possible we could get him on a season loan again as his contract has 2 yeas to run. Think Ward's contract with Cov is up this Summer.

It seems like we are looking around for keepers so that will probably happen, but I would be shocked if we don't offer Sulli another deal.

Don't think there is a cat in hells chance of keeping Sharp, unless Blamewell fancies taking Stock in exchange and even then I'd be surprised if a better offer for Sharp didn't come in.

Should be an interesting few months.

*anyone know what has happened to Shackell? He was supposed to be out for 4 weeks, but hasn't been mentioned for ages. Has he returned to Wolves?

Spicer will also leave I reckon, and possibly McDaid, and the two youngsters Clarke and Fisher.

I can see Wilson staying.

Who else is out of contract?

Snod's Shinpad didn't mention Copps as a saleable asset, he's got to be worth more than Shiels!

I'd be looking at:

CB - Ward and or Shackell
CM - Montgomery? Liam Trotter?
CF - as stated in previous thread, someone like Billy Paynter.

Whatever happens in the transfer market, I hope the club avoids the PR disasters we got in to last summer.

I think we missed out big time with Danny Graham last summer. Would have been a good signing and affordable.

Fair enough you're right. Although he is pushing 30, so I'm not sure we'd get an offer that would be worth considering.

Well out of that I expect
Guy, Spicer, Lockwood, Smith, Heffs, McDaid, Dumbuya, Woods, Clark and Fisher to not have their contracts renewed.

Thats 10 short straight away. Take away Sharp, Shackell and JET and Mutch and our squad is 14 players lighter.

A major shake up on the horizon!
