Gary Hooper from just down the road at Scunny. Its common knowledge at their Club that he'll be on his way in the summer, shouldnt be too high a transfer fee, and his currentswages, I would expect, must be lower than what we could potentially offer.

At the very least, Id hope someone at DRFC is considering him as a viable option, because personally, I think he's a cracking player.

i think we will have to be looking at those players whose clubs are going up or going down

so i would like nathan tyson being played out of position at forest but quick has been prolific in the past

That's not a bad shout, Bedale. He wuold certainly add another dimension to our attack.

I tell you who else I would like. If Wolves stay up I can see them letting Ebanks-Blake go. He hasn't done anything in the Prem but scores for fun at this level.

Reuben Reid is a good shout; SO'D was keen on him last summer, prompting all my Rotherham United supporting buddies (all 1 of him) to suggest he was nailed on to be Rovers' newest hitman. He's out of favour at WBA and his lack of minutes in the Championship don't bode well for a Premier League squad player.

Failing that; we'll settle for a superstar French kid from Arsenal.

I've always rated Nathan Tyson, he causes loads of problems for defenders with his lightning pace. Not the best finisher but I think we need some pace up front to give us more variation. We're sometimes a bit one dimentional up front and easy to defend against when we're behind as proven by our terrible record when we concede first. I reckon someone like Tyson gives defenders a bit more to think about and allow us to try something other than playing through a packed defence.

Another player who I've always thought to be alright is Pawel Abbott, scored a few this season for Penney's struggling Oldham. He's 6ft2 and I can remember him scoring for fun at Huddersfield. Might be worth a shot if theres a chance we can get him to rediscover his goalscoring form from a few years back. He might be past it though, I'm not sure.

An option I've mentioned above would be to get someone in on a season long loan like we did with Billy Sharp. Someone who's a proven goalscorer but hasn't done much after a big money move. I've already mentioned Simon Cox from West Brom, he hasn't had much game time this season and will probably play even less next year in the Premier League. He scored a lot in League One and I'm pretty sure he can do it at this level. Another player in a similar situation is Joe Garner at Forest who was good for Carlisle in League One the year we went up.

Another option could be to take a chance on someone from the Conference or below. There are some good strikers down there that have the potential to do well at this level eg. Aaron McLean, Mackail-Smith, Beckford, Austin, DJ Campbell. Currently there's a striker for York who's scored quite a lot this season called Richard Brodie. I think he's quite highly rated, youngish (early 20's) and he's 6ft3 which could be an option for us. He probably wouldn't cost too much however would be a big ask for someone from this category to step up to Championship level and score goals immediately.

Then there's the already mentioned:
- Reuben Reid, Adam Le Fondre, Chris Dagnall, all done well in League Two and are still young with potential to improve.
- Jamie Mackie, not prolific but quite highly rated, he was Plymouth's best player against us.
- Craig Mackail-Smith, really quick and works hard but he hasn't scored that many at this level, a good player though who could do better at a stronger team.

I reckon all of them could be affordable and are probably the types we will realistically be looking at in the summer. Players like Hooper, Rhodes and Austin would probably cost closer to £1m. Bigger clubs will be in for them.

Simon Cox would be a brilliant signing. I'm sure West Brom would be keen to loan him to us for a season given our style of play and the situation with Sharp at Sheffield must also raise our reputation amongst other clubs looking to loan out a player.
