Despite two seasons of mid-table finishes I've still got a survival mentality so I wouldn't object to the Wendies going down based on an assumption that Watford and Palace would both continue to struggle next season. If Wendies stay up I could see Irvine making them a more solid team next year.
We should all be rooting for Scunny and the Owls no matter what we think of them as rivals, just think of two full houses at the Keepmoat, instead of 9,000 of us plus whatever Palace and Watford can muster, it's a no brainer.
I'm a bit torn on the Wednesday issue as well.I'd like to see them go down in many ways just so they suffer and their arrogance levels are brought down by a peg or two. Could you imagine them not being in this league when so many Yorkshire clubs are, and having to endure trips to Rochdale, Plymouth, Hartlepool, etc, next season? Wendy fans would absolutely hate it!!!That said, on the other side of the coin I'd like to see them survive for the local derby value, etc. It's always an enjoyable day out at Hillsborough and we'd get a big crowd at the Keepmoat too. I'm also a big fan of Alan Irvine and would be happy for him if they avoid the drop.If we lose Palace we'd lose a quality away day, albeit a relatively expensive one as well.It really is a win-win situation on the whole, and apart from exiles in the South West, I don't think anyone will be sad to see the back of Plymouth either!!!
