Brian Stock is hoping for a return to international football when Wales face Croatia in Osijek next month.
The Doncaster Rovers midfielder is on the verge of a return from back surgery that has kept him out since February.
But Stock knows he needs to play some part in Rovers' final games of the season at home to Scunthorpe United and away at Swansea City to have a chance.
\"John Toshack phoned me and said he wants to include me but he's worried about me not playing,\" said Stock.
\"But it's one of them where you can't take a player who's not match-fit for one game. I just have to wait and see.\"
Stock has been limited to just 18 appearances for Rovers this season having also spent three months out following ankle surgery earlier in the campaign.
The 28-year-old made his senior international debut in Wales' 3-1 World Cup qualifying home defeat to Russia last September - a game that officially ended any hopes of reaching this year's World Cup in South Africa.
But the former Bournemouth midfielder has not featured in any of Wales four games since then because of his injuries.
If he can get some action before the regular Championship season comes to an end, he could receive a call for the friendly at the Stadion Gradski Vrt on Sunday, 23 May.
\"Early in my career I've been quite fortunate to be injury-free and it's only been the last 18 months or so where I've been struggling a bit,\" said Stock.
\"Unfortunately I have missed games and missed the chance to play more international football as it's a great honour to play for Wales.
\"I would like to get in some future squads.
\"If you've got someone like John Toshack's name appearing on your phone it puts a smile on your face.
\"It's great for him to do this sort of thing and it gives the players in the squad hope that they have a chance of still getting back into the squad.\"
So we get Brian fit then plays for Wales ready for sale in the Summer.!!!!
