Rovers Marketing Department
« on April 22, 2010, 06:26:09 pm by Wellred »
I have just received a phone call from someone calling about the Rovers Alliance. I am a member of the alliance and they called asking how it was going and offering an incentive to introduce a new member.
I along with others on here have criticised the marketing team at DRFC in the past but credit where credit is due.
It seems someone has done something positive..................so well done.

Nope only the ones who for their own reasons didn't join it.
I have won £50 and had 4 free tickets this season.
Tickets that have been given away to potential future supporters.

You haven't really \"won\" anything considering the money you paid to join. Also i don't think the calls are anything really to do with the club itself because when i was called about joining the alliance it was from a number in west yorkshire and a company working on behalf of the club, so my guess is the club paid a company to get alliance members.

Whats wrong can't you give the club any credit?
Of course they outsourced the calling to another company but how many times have we moaned that the club don't do anything and when they do you still find something to moan about.

You know me mate I admit I like a moan when I feel its justified but I also think when the club does something right then I will be the first to commend them on their efforts.

Because it would be nice to see the club put in as much effort where it matters, as in promoting itself to potential new ST holders and fans. They keep banging on about how we need larger gates yet it's left to a few members of the VSC to do anything about it with things such as the flyers that have been made, the club can't even be bothered to amend the pdf on DROS to show the correct date for early bird ST prices etc.
The club is in desperate need of a new media manager with the initiative and guille to think outside the box and promote this club as a championship club, because the way DRFC is promoted and presented in terms of increasing the fanbase and looking after the fanbase it has etc is conferance standard.
Look at what other clubs are offering fans to renew or buy new ST's in terms of price freezes, monthly payments, free kids st's if purchased with an adult st, free shirts, what are we offering? nothing apart from a price increase. I've bought 4 ST's and i don't mind because i've supported this club over 30 years, but there are newer supporters and potential supporters that won't buy season tickets because the club hasn't been bothered to do anything to entice them.
Oh but we are giving away this seasons shirts if you renew your rovers player for 12 months, why the hell aren't we giving them away if you renew your ST? it might create more sales, especially for younger ST holders, but we have nobody with the brains to think like that. The kids are the future of this club, so why not give an incentive to get them here like \"for every kids ST that child gets a tour of the ground\"? bloody hell if i had the chance to see where my heroes got ready for a game when i was 7-8 i would have loved it and so would kids these days.
Yes it's nice to get a call from an outsourced company telling you what you can get if you get someone else to join the alliance, it's a pity there is nobody at the club that can be bothered to do the same thing in regards to ST's, maybe they should outsource anything to do with the club in regards to media?
Anyway rant over, the club will never move forward unless people are put into place that can do the job and benefit the club as a whole in my opinion.

P.S. fcuk I FEEL LIKE MR FROST :P

Nope I DID JOIN and am still a Member - my initial joining was not without difficulties

I have not won

I have had no free tickets AT ALL perhaps becuase it took ages to kick in my Membership

However I did it for the \"good of the Club\" and the sprog who rang last night DID promise me tickets next Season - BUT now I have found he was outsourced I wont hold my breath on tha one !

So the moral is - it IS NOT just those who did not join who might be moaning

By the way I am not moaning !

I emailed both the media and marketing department of the club on Tuesday about the pdf with a link to a version I corrected for them.

NEW PDF

I haven't heard anything from them to date and I even mailed the ticket office to ask them to get in touch with the club yesterday because the pdf still hadn't been changed.

I have to defend the Media Department again, and yes I am friends with them and also do business with the club. But you have to point your moans in the right direction.
The marketing of tickets , matches and Aliance etc:- is nothing to do with the media manager. There is a dedicated marketing manager employed to do these jobs and a marketing department. The media department look after the press (regarding news),television and the programme.Along with covering players visits to the community.
As well as filming games and supplying the dvd's to SOD and ROK after each match.
There rant over.

Could the media department not talk to the marketing department?, (In house joined up thinking and all that), get 'em to have a look at this Forum, particularly in relation to what VSC members have achieved with their own initiative over the last couple of weeks?

Each department looks after its own affairs but do have weekly meetings I am sure ideas are banded around. Each department also has its own manager and budget, all overseen by the Chief Exec. I am sure they will welcome the VSC's effort to market games and they will hopefull take notice.

The heads of department might be brilliant but if the person at the top ie the CE isn't up to much then nothing will ever happen.

Agree with all your points Wellred. talk about joined up management.

You'd think with a club the size of ours, all staff should be singing from the same hymn sheet with one overall objective !!??

Everyone who is an employee of the club either directly or indirectly should be marketing the club at all times. It appears we have a disjointed 'team' that have lost sight of who are their major customer !

That res[ponsibility surely has to fall on Mr Morris shoulders ??

In one of these weekly meetings is there any chance you could ask the head of marketing what he does all day apart from twiddling his thumbs? that would be great. Because it would be nice to see some offers/promotions for ST's and promotion of the club in the media (or is that the media dept that are slacking?) regarding advertising for matches and tickets etc.
I've mentioned 2-3 ideas in my previous post that maybe they could look into in regards to ST's or maybe they are more interested in giving us incentives to pay £39 for 12 months of rovers player instead?
