Italia 90/ Bad Haircuts
« on April 23, 2010, 01:01:40 pm by Thinwhiteduke »
Unearthed this little gem, (I had this sticker album myself), and felt an urge to post it.

http://www.footballspotter.com/complete-panini-italia-90-collection/

Bit of a spot the Pundit/ current day manager theme going on and their respective awful hairstyles / taches.

One question though. What is Andy Townshends secret? In 20 years he has not changed at all.

This was my first ever sticker album, don't think I ever completed it.

Some crackers on there.  How Colombian do the Colombians look!

It's funny how the eventual Golden Boot winner Salvatore Schillaci isn't even mentioned!

The picture of Kasey Keller looks nothing like him.

Chris Waddles hair takes some beating although the Columbian keepers come close

With the exception of the hair colour, Ancelotti hasn't changed much either.

I had no idea Austria was the mullett capital of Europe.

Same here. I had a BBC magazine guide to the tournament and read it so often that a lot of those players names are still well in my memory. More so than some of the later world cups.

The columbian mafia had bet heavily on them winning the game, they didn't and because he scored an own goal they shot him. I watched a documentary on it, it said that the entire squad didn't want to play because they had death threats before the tournament even started, crazy crazy

I think he was a very late addition to the Cameroon squad, actually be enticed out of retirement by the Cameroon President, therefore not making the sticker collection. He was 38 in those World Cup finals!

True enough - he was a talentless Kitson then too

Italia 90 was superb. I was 17 and on holiday from the sixth form and pretty much pissed throughout the tournament. Parents had made the stupid mistake of going away for 3 weeks so myself, along with several mates, watched the competition through a drunken haze and stacks of empty cans and pizza boxes from their living room. Happy days!

I was 20, and equally p!ssed for a month.  I think this was the first world cup I watched where I saw every game on telly.

Bloody Chris Waddle!
