Don't know if this has been mentioned but he's available on a free at the end of the season.
Worth a punt?

Schmeichel

He's not at Man Utd.  He's at Doncaster Rovers.  Man Utd didnt rate him enough to keep him.

And, playing devil's advocate here, if Wood was the future, wouldnt he have pushed Ben Smith aside to make the bench?

I was thinking exactly the same, til I saw this:

\"Tottenham, Blackburn and Birmingham have all been placed on alert after Notts County agreed to release goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel on a free transfer at the end of the season. (The Sun) \" (BBC SPORT)

Maybe a bit out of our league.

How about Robbie Blake? Getting on a bit but one of the cleverest players around, could add a bit of guile to our attack. Wouldn't play every game but wouldn't have thought he'd be on mega wages and could offer a bit of competition to Coppinger, Shiels and Hayter.

Robbie Blake in net? He's only a dwarf, unless he's going to come up from corners?  ;)

Joking aside, a 34 year old who won't be good enough for Burnley in this league next year is not what we need.

This is almost proof, if it was ever needed, that Notts County should be hung, drawn and slaughtered for how they've gone about achieving promotion this season!!! It is an absolute disgrace to footballing integrity.

Regarding Schmeichel, he's a good keeper and he will end up signing for a top club probably in the Premier League. Good luck to him... I'm sure he'll be hoping that two clubs fight it out to sign him, so the merciless bas**rd can have ludicrously high wage demands.

I don't see how he can be that merciless. County offered him a top wage as they knew he'd be on something similar at City (at least). Also given he's allowed the club to rip up the rest of his contract for nothing (which would have guarenteed him £2.3m) you could argue he's not been too merciless to County, although obviously he won't struggle to get another deal.

Blake would be a good signing, he's a good player. Laws isn't picking him much, doesn't mean he isn't good enough. I think he'd be a great free signing if we could afford his wages.

going back to goalkeepers, what about Adriano Basso? free agent, not sure about wages mind. Also, saw them both in preseason, and wasn't overly impressed with either of our 2 young keepers
