THE Most Important Question Of The Pre-Season
« on May 06, 2010, 01:56:55 pm by Snods Shinpad 2 »
What kind of hairdo will midfield diamond James Coppinger be sporting for his pre-season photo?

As we can see, Coppingers pre-season 'do' has previously signalled his intent for the season ahead.

A window if you like, into his ambitions for the task ahead.

a) The continental playmaker do. This do signalled an intent to stamp his reputation as a individualistic, flambouyant midfield maestro. The do was probably held together at times with a Totti-esque piece of string to keep it in place. The hairpiece was ill informed and Copps was shipped out on loan.

b) After the individualist do 'A', which saw him released by Toon, Copps opts for a safety first 'fitting in with the crowd' do. This may seem an odd statement having looked at the shocking style, however this do was sported at the height of Britpop. Copps is saying to the world he wants to fit in with the squad in a youthful way. However there is still a hint of the flamboyance displayed in do A.

c) Having cemented his place at Rovers, Copps feels relaxed enough to let his do run wild. Stylish and rugged yet carefully underpinned with a hidden and maturing discipline. Copps appears at his most optimistic here. The do is saying that the season ahead will be a stylish yet maturing one for young James. And so it proved.

d) Perhaps the most confident do of the lot. Copps hairpiece is quite literally reaching for the stars. The season was capped off with that masterful play off hattrick display. If we had paid attention to the pre-season trim, we would have known that this was inevitable.

e) The workmanlike do. A radical change in the Coppinger collection. Many have stated this may have been the start of Coppinger's mature period.
Closely clipped and regimental, Coppinger is displaying his intent to knuckle down for the season ahead like never before. As the season progressed fans seemed surprised by Coppinger's workmanlike, unflambouyant displays on the pitch. As ever the pre-season pic had revealed this change in attitude many months before. Interestingly, Copps opted not to maintain the grade 1 do, and as the style grew more relaxed, so did his performances on the pitch.

The question we have to ask now is what kind of follical arrangement will Coppinger sport for the pre-season pic and what does this say about his intentions for the season ahead?

Forget transferrumours.com. The real debate starts here...

Excellent thread SS! I personally would like to see hair-do \"d\" make an appearance again - a couple of hat-tricks as per southend will do nicely  :P

An interesting analysis, let down by one flaw however: based on the respective shirts, Photo C would appear to have been taken circa 2003, whilst Photo B is of a 2006 vintage. What does this new evidence suggest about Mr Coppinger's barnet?

Balls.

I'm obviously not up to the job of barnet commentator in chief.

Come next season he will be sporting an afro, signalling his intent to become Rovers' new 'Afro Goal Machine'.

Or not.   :P

Actually the Dickie Davies bouffant and tash would make a bold statement of supreme confidence. Remember Copps, if you don't lead you follow.

Quality post SS and agreed most apt. I was a little concerned about this seasons 'do'. (Not just with the do, but with physical appearance)I initially thought he was paying some kind of homage to Lena Zavaroni, towards the end of her days.......or had he sported some type of Belsen uniform, then some kind of links/tribute to the Hebrew nation.

I'm going for a more settled, comfortable, conforming senior player/captain type of 'do'. I feel a 'Stocky cut' or a 'Billy type cut' will be forthcoming.

The dark horse, and never to be ruled out is the Cryus special.
