Seen he made the final 23, Where's he been playing last year as states unattached as his club?

Great little player for us. A real utility man which ultimately was his downfall for us. Good luck to the lad. Hope he does well for NZ. Ill be watching for him

He could make a name for himself if NZ get a free kick around the box anywhere. He is the only Rovers free-kick specialist I've seen in all my years of following the club. If only we had someone with his dead-ball ability now it could make all the difference in a very tight league. Just look at the impact of Dorrans and Brunt at West Brom for instance.

When I was reseraching all the stuff about where some of our former players are now, I came across Mulligan and noticed he hasn't played that much football in the past couple of seasons. Therefore, its quite possible that he may not feature as prominently as some of us may expect, once the finals do get underway.

Ricki Herbert is a fan of Mullys and he played in all the WC qualifting games for NZ, wouldn't suprise me if he did feature in the 1st match for them. He has been at Wellington Phoenix but never had his contract renewed, he has had a few offers but is concentrating on the WC and then will weigh up his options.

Thought Glynn and Ian were pretty good Free-kick takers for us,Apart from them I cannot think of any others off the top of my head. This thread has made me think,I bet Mulligan would have been a SOD type of player if he was still at Rovers when Sod took over with all his Utility skills.Just what sod likes in a player.

Eddie Gormley and the mighty Steve Prindiville could hit one.
Clive Freeman?
You're not that much younger than me are you Mike?

I'm suprised Martin Woods hasn't got a better free kick in him.

Neil Redfearn - quality dead ball taker.

Not that much younger, no but just enough to put Prindiville and Gormley out of my recollection. Freeman was around when I started going in 1994 but the first decent free kick I saw us score was a one-off from Jon Schofield (against Gillingham I think). He certainly wasn't prolific.

I too am surprised Woodsy isn't better with a dead ball. If I were him I'd spend an extra couple of hours a week practising free kicks. He either slams them into the wall/off target or floats them in to the keeper.
