20 over World Cup
« on May 11, 2010, 02:36:52 pm by CusworthRovers »
Not been much talk on here about this nations saving grace 'Cricket'.

We actually look a decent chuffing side, if I may be so bold as to say.
Crushed all before us, and now a semi final berth awaits us, and wouldn't it be proper bo if we smashed the Aussies in the final.

Well done England and what an opening batting order Pieterson, Lumb, Keiswetter.....if we had taken Trott we would have had an opening 4 to grace any Sth African team.

The batters are hitting it all over, the bowlers look good, the middle order of Wright, Bresnan and Morgan look very good too.

Come on England

Eoin Morgan as been a class act, a revelation batting in the middle order at #5.

Like one of the commentators said,\"He's come in and got the rest of the English players playing like him\",and it's about time to,with a bit of look we could win this.

Proper Bo, I tell thee.

Now bring on the World Cup. There was a saying that England never won anything under the tories

I had a most enjoyable day yesterday. First of all my first visit of the season to the building site that is Edgbaston to watch the first half of Warwickshire v Kent. A few hours in the sun with a relaxing pint- you can't beat cricket for that. Then home to watch us smash the Aussies in the final.

The contrast between the England side that played in last summer's T20 World Cup and this one is quite remarkable.

Going back to Warwickshire, I think we'll be seeing another Irishman in the England side before long. Boyd Rankin- 6 foot 7 tall and seriously quick. We might have a successor to Harmison here.

Fantastic result and well played the lads. We didn't just squeek past the Aussies, we f**king hammered 'em! Great partnership from Pietersen and Kieswetter.

I don't go in for all this sniping about their S. African roots; at the end of the day they qualify to play for England through their families fair and square. If I moved to S. Africa and had a kid out there I'd like to think that he would happily represent England! It's no different to Owen Hargreaves turning out for our football team.

No one can complain, the leading wicket taker in the tournament, 'Aussie' Dirk Nannes is Dutch.....and played for them when they embarrassed England last Summer.

To be honest, if we'd had to bat first, I was worried we'd have lost as the Aussies can chase down just about any score. But I thought we were brilliant yesterday and but for the weather i'm sure we'd have gone through the tournament winning every game.....Duckworth-Lewis, what the feck is all that about ???

Wasn't that a Yorkshireman who said that. Probs one of Illingworth, Close, Boycott, Trueman.

I know Illingworth once called England for a distinct lack of Northern Grit and demanded a generous splattering of Yorks/Wancs players.

If only 20 0ver cricket was around in the 70's............(go's off into dreamland)

'and England have reached an impressive 3-0 off their 20 overs. An excellent undefeated opening stand there between Boycott and Tavare'
