SINK OR SWIM
« on May 14, 2010, 07:25:08 am by northbayviking »
I am all for a stable economic ship BUT I am getting really worried about our chances of survival next season already.
Each close season we receive serious blows like losing Green, Wellens, Mills and now little Robo. we fail to sign anyone of note only a few trialists. Our season last year was propped up by loanees who we cant afford. Take away Sharps goals, Shackells and Roberts defensive qualities and JETs flair and that leaves us with a good squad without a cutting edge or a sound defence. this equals losing and relegation.
Next season we have really tough competition with Norwich Leeds etc. etc. already adding to a tough league.
I can only see survival being achieved if the KM2 take a chance spending on 3 or 4 quality replacement players and writing off just a small part of their wealth for the good of Doncaster until our support increases.
what do you think?

Don't take it for granted that Leeds will be any kind of a force next season.
Uncle Ken will certainly not be dipping his hands in his pockets to make big signings and that is a fact.
Much as we all hate him you have to agree that since he took over at Leeds he has run a very tight ship and that will not change now they are in the CCC.
If anything he runs the club in a very similar way to our own.

leave the management of the club to SOD/JR

and let them get on with it

it is only may and there must be 12 more signing weeks til the start of the season

if you are panicking now try 40mgs of fluoxetine

I don't think the league will be quite as strong this season. Hull and Pompey both look to be in such a financial state that the parachute payments won't start to cover it and Burnley still have Laws in charge. I'm sure a few other clubs will be feeling the pinch more this season as well. Won't Leeds and Norwich start £2.5 million worse off than the rest as well? I  think that's how this solidarity payment works.

Each season people pick and prod and SOD and JR about the losses of the club and the threat of relegation, and yet guaranteed come this time next year we will have finished our 3rd season in the championship in a very resepctable position.

Optimististic?, whats wrong with you people, a typical rovers fan demanding the typical big money big named players who come here and do nothing, just give Sean enough time and he will find adequate and efficent replacements rather than wasteing our money on big named shite

Can someone please tell me how the hell:
'3 or 4 quality replacement players'

turns into

'typical big money big named players who come here and do nothing, just give Sean enough time and he will find adequate and efficent replacements rather than wasteing our money on big named shite'.

So, by definition, you must think that Billy Sharp is sh1te, then?

Would anyone else be disappointed if we simply treaded water?  Mid table again next season would be ok in my book.

I'd be delighted with that. But then I'm delighted with every season we manage to stay up.

Id be delighted with mid-table again. BUT!
our total home attendance figure fell by 34496 last year on the previous year if say £20.00 average this equals £690,000 alot of money.
matching these figures against Barnsley our gate receipts were £920,000 less this = buying and paying wages for 1 Jason Shackell.
If KM2 do not contribute more - we must somehow increase our attendances or go backwards! B)

so put the onus onto the only people who are singlehandedly consistently putting large amounts of money into the club

wouldnt it be better if we all went out and sold the club to neighbours friends relatives  etc so reducing the reliance on someone who may decide to scale back their commitment as their ears are hurting?

Is this not what a marketting departmnet is employed to do? Market the club to the people of Doncaster and surrounding areas? I stump up a few hundred quid year on year for the club, it's not up to me to get the uncles next door neighbour's brother to fork out too.

Unless there's a scheme such as recieve £X when you get a friend to sign up, similar to the 'introduce a friend to sky' idea, or is that too bright for Rovers?
