My England
« on May 19, 2010, 11:21:07 pm by kittyslass »
ENGLAND  (I  think this really sums it all up.)

After hearing that many cities did not want to offend other cultures by  putting up Xmas lights, so DIDN'T!

After learning that the  British Red Cross shops were instructed not to display Christmas  decorations lest they cause offence. (A move which cost them my support  thereafter.)
After  hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a Muslim  woman have her picture on her driver's licence with her face covered..  You try it!

After hearing of a Primary School in Birmingham where  a boy was told that for PE they could wear Football League shirts (Aston  Villa, Birmingham, West Brom etc) but NOT an England shirt as it could  offend others !

This  prompted the editorial below written by a UK citizen.
And published  in a British newspaper.

IMMIGRANTS. NOT BRITONS, MUST  ADAPT.

Take It Or  Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are  offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks  on London , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of  Brits.

However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and  the 'politically correct' crowd begin complaining about the possibility  that our patriotism is offending others.

I am not against  immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a  better life by coming to Britain . However, there are a few things that  those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born  here, need to understand.

This idea of  Britain    being  a multicultural centre for community has served only to dilute our  sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we have our own  culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This  culture has been developed over centuries of wars, struggles, trials and  victories fought by the untold masses of men and women who laid down  their lives and of the millions of men and women who have sought  freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic,  Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you  wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

If  God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world  as your new home, because God is part of our culture.. If St.George's  cross offends you, then you should seriously consider a move to another  part of this planet.

We are happy with our culture and have no  desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you  came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will  allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this.

But once you are  done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our  National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I encourage you take advantage of  one other great British freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.

We didn't  force you to come here. If you don't like it GO HOME!!

You asked  to be here... So accept the country that  accepted  YOU.  Pretty easy really, when you think about it..

If  we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also,  sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try,  please.

Hmmm where to begin?

After hearing that many cities did not want to offend other cultures by  putting up Xmas lights, so DIDN'T! Bull! Next.

After learning that the  British Red Cross shops were instructed not to display Christmas  decorations lest they cause offence. (A move which cost them my support  thereafter.)  Again, bull! If you don't want to support the British Red Cross then that's up to you mate.

After  hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a Muslim  woman have her picture on her driver's licence with her face covered..  You try it! The most blatant steaming pile of bull I've ever heard.

In fact, I was going continue the theme throughout, to destroy your sad mindless xenophobic drivel, but what's the point. There is no reasoning with you people is there?

I'll leave it to someone who is better than me to do it.

These Kind of posts drumming up hatred really depress me, I see enough of them on the American site I go on.
that seems to be chocka block full of red neck racist idiots. what is it with the little England mentality?

As the English language is made up in part from Latin..French and God alone what else who is to say what speaking English actually is..

And to be picky, I have to say as we are on a site with Vikings in the logo (Scandanavian...) I find it slightly ironic.

A good case for incitement of racial hetred? Possibly. This sort of drivel is for the the morons who have difficulty in reading it, the reason why they \"post it on\" is because they are incapable of putting together any logical argument of their own, so they use lies and \"internet thruths\", in other words falsehoods repeated often enough so they believe their own rubbish.

The \"facts\" there are about as truthful as the rumours site that pass for facts in some peoples minds.

Good point Jucy

ENGLAND - even the name is Germanic in origin, meaning \"narrow land\"

I'm 45th generation Roman with a bit of Viking, Norman, Celt thrown in for good measure.

And we all apparently originated as homo sapiens from a very few places around the worled and spread out from there - look up the \"Cradle Of Civilisation\" near Johannesburg.

So, should I assume that not one muslim, immigrant or whatever is offended by our way of living or culture? That also is bull. Plenty have spoken out in interviews on TV against our way of life, and how we should be converted to a muslim state.

Look at those morons who wanted to stage a protest in Wooton Basset. Islam 4 UK or whoever it was. They really embrace Western culture.

Ironic really isn't it that the original post quoted a statement that was claimed to be written by a Brit, but was actually a piece of xenophobic propaganda written by an American who tried to pass it off as the words of the Australian Prime Minister.

Doesn't that just sum this whole area up? Chinese whispers that get blown up into moralising crusades.

Had anyone on here ever been told by police or council officials not to wear an England shirt, fly a St George flag, celebrate Xmas etc? Funny int it? Every xenophobe you ever meet knows someone whose mate once read summat on the paper about this kind if disgraceful suppression of our indigenous culture, but no-one has ever experienced it first hand. Just like no-one ever heard the Australian PM and/or an Englishman ever say those words at the start of this thread.

I agree some people try and antagonise the situation to stir up trouble. The whole England flag thing is garbage. However, there are people who are against our society and culture, despite using the system to their own ends.

The Islam 4 UK group I believe have been disbanded, but everyone associated with them IMO should be deported or arrested. They were themselves inciting racial hatred and had an agenda to create a muslim state in Britain.

Maybe people should concentrate on venting their frustration towards the extremists who are here and not moaning about England shirts and flags.

Old English.....this is the language of our ancestors, the language of Alfred the Great..

villages that end in thorpe are usually of Danish origin..Caster is a Roman word for fort and so on and so forth, we are and always have been a polyglot nation, it is our greatest strength.

No country stays static in it's population. Who is to say what the genetic makeup of the populace will be in a thousand years, it's called evolution.

So, in other words, lets embrace muslim extemists. The next time there is a terrorist attack, it doesn't matter. We'll put it down to evolution.

We should protect our culture and our way of life, and not roll over to those who want to change it.

So, ban all people who are muslim? is that what you are saying, because of a minority...why not ban the Irish whilst you are at it, a minority of them were terrorists, how about the Basques, they have some right wrong uns too..

The thoughts and ideas of the few only take prominance (sp) because they shout loudest. But they DON'T shout for everyone.

You certainly don't shout for me Mr Frost.. :)

If you read, you would see the word extremeist.
I specifically mentioned a group called Islam 4 UK who's sole intention is to turn this country into a Muslim state. Why not deport or arrest these people?

In terms of your so called evolution, would you like to see this country become a one of muslim rule?

I would like to live in a country that has a populace that is mature enough to be able to co-exist with all cultures. I don't look down on, or think any less of someone who doesn't speak the language, you don't have to speak it to be a worthwhile member of society. I do not like all this them and us mentality.

If someone is proven to be a threat to the safety of others then steps should be taken to safe keep the majority. However, answer me this...How can you deport someone who is actually born in the country they are threatening? Because sadly recent history has shown that you can hate the country you are born into. America learned that with the bombings in Oklahoma by Timothy McVeigh.

I don't like to see people being demonised by the actions of a few.

I did say deported/arrested. Obviously those born here are arrested, those not, deported.
It is unfortunate as I'm sure there are plenty of decent muslims. I know a few myself. I also know a few who take a different outlook on their religion, treat their women like shit and abuse everything that they claim to stand for. They drink, gamble, etc and then will still play the race or relgion card.

The islamic religion has too many different interpratations (sp). Some treat it as an excuse for a war on the Western countries. And for this reason, I personally have no time for it at all. Does that make me racist? Maybe in today's world it does.

Unfortunately the minority shame the majority.

But you could say that of any religion...Catholic priests and small children for instance. Religion has always been the excuse some need to coerce and impose their will on others.

I do believe there is nothing wrong with any faith, only in the way some interpret (sp)it.

Until the day when the majority of people in this country are muslims there will be no \"muslim rule\" as you call it. Why not deport or arrest the racist extremists then who send out vile propaganda like this, or even the people who post it to stir up trouble? Life is not as simple as we would like, it takes a little understanding and an ability to analyse what is happening to work out that we have to adapt and accept that some people are different to us. Just because they are different does not mean they are a threat, they are just different, leave them alone and have a little respect for others.

Tell me how we can stop the extremists and prevent terrorist cells operating in our country. How do you identify an extremist? They are the ones I have the problem with and the one who abuse our society and culture. They shouldn't be here.

By co-existing peacefully mate!

And on thbis subject of 'extremists', I'll see if I can provide just one example from each of the last several centuries:

20thC: Sinn Fein and their sympathisers. Bombings, shootings, knee cappings, kidnappings, the works. Alternatively, Mosley and the Blackshirts. Extremely nasty bunch they were too. Or the suffragettes who did all manner of unspeakable things in purssuit of a totally alien concept.
19thC: Republican Frenchmen. Lots of them around. Terrfied the aristocracay and British governments of all persuasions. Yet amaongst the Royalist emigres plenty of them did choose to, and were allowed to live here. Alternatively, the Chartists, the anti Corn Law League, and the Peelers. All terrible people in the eyes of the majority at the time.....
18thC: Republican Americans. Terrible bunch. Cheeky bas**rds even decided to betray the sovereign King. Lots of them around the UK. Benjamin Franklin for one even dared to live here during part of the war.
17thC: Those bloody Jacobites. Downright rebellious they were.
16thC: the fcuking clergy. Dissobeying the King like that. Stirring up right trouble. Ultramontanism in Spades. Can't have that can we?

I could go on.

The point is, which, if any, of that lot would you have us shoot/deport/arrest Mr Frost if they happened to be around today? They all were, or became,  'English' in one way or another. They all lived here. Most of them were born here. All of them ended up becoming part of our collective society.

I remember reading somewhere once that something like a quarter of all the Nobel prizes won by this country were won either by immigrants or by the children of immigrants. I can't prove that, and I might have the numbers a bit wrong, but the point is certainly true. It's be a bit of a waste really to have chucked 'em all out before they had the chance to win the damn things wouldn't it?

Cheers

BobG

PS And I've not even mentioned the Huguenots! A vast wave of Frenchmen chucked out by their King who came to England, upset the local weaving fraternities yet settled and ended up becoming a vast powerhouse of industrial and intellectual progress. People hated them too at the time.

I'm happy to co exist, however certain things are very worrying. People should accept our culture and how we live. If they don't agree, then don't live here. I don't want to walk down the street and see women wearing burka's either. In my opinion they should be banned. They are persuing this in France and it should be done here.

I take my step daughter to nursery every morning, she is in a minority in the fact that most of the other kids there are from Polish, Ukraine or muslim families. It is very alarming.

There is also the argument where these families live, the areas have become run down and crime rates high.

Alot are on benefits (although so are lots of English people).

Its an extremely difficult situation. I myself simply don't agree with how immigration is dealt with in this country. And I believe as a nation we are losing our identity. That doesn't make me racist.

Our culture, ie our way of life. We are free to live how we want and not follow rules set out by Allah for a start. We are free to marry who we choose, free to drink if we want. Free to gamble. A western culture is based around freedom. Where is the freedom for muslim women who are living in a western country? It makes no sense
We couldn't turn up in a muslim country and do these things and expect the natives to be happy about it, yet we accept burka's, arranged marriages etc here. Why?
Go to Bradford, Luton or parts of Birmingham which are rife with everything I have reffered to. Tell me you wouldn't feel threatened or intimidated walking through a muslim area. There are parts of Luton where white people wouldn't dream of going. Why should it be like that.
You say we should co exist. Thats fine. But adapt to how we live.

Have you not heard of the British Raj in India? We didn't make a single consession to the way they lived and carried on doing whatever we wanted, more recently, the folks who go out to Saudi etc have their own culture and do not become Muslim, tend not to speak Arabic as their first language, keep to their own \"expat\" lifestyle, something you hear of all over the world. Why all of a sudden have we got to have every, other culture in the world conform to your standards? You are brought up in this country with a set of \"norms\" that are not mine, I don't hate people who are different to me, so what \"culture\" am I from? Maybe i don't deserve to be here too? Get those gas chambers going again Mr.Frost, but be careful not to show any Germanic roots will you?!

Your entitled to your opinion.
As for other countries, look at the two arrested for sharing a kiss in a resteraunt in Dubai.
I have my beliefs on this matter, and alot share it.

Too many people are blind to the problems we have. Its too easy to say, just co exist and live in harmony. It wont happen. The world would be a better place if it was that easy.
