Scunny in for Tom Kennedy

THE Iron could be about to make a second swoop on Rochdale – for full-back Tom Kennedy.

Scunthorpe have already been involved in talks with Dale striker Chris Dagnall and the Telegraph can reveal left-sided Kennedy is also on Scunthorpe's radar as they look to find a replacement for Marcus Williams, who joined Reading last week.

But they face competition from Championship rivals Doncaster to try to lure the 25-year-old former Bury ace to Glanford Park.

A source close to the player today confirmed to the Telegraph that Iron manager Nigel Adkins had watched Kennedy in action towards the end of the season and it is understood the club have made contact with his agent.

\"He is a player who is destined for bigger and better things,\" said the source about Kennedy, who is out-of-contract after three seasons with the promoted League Two club.

Looks like we aren't the only club looking at Kennedy. Hopefully we won't be priced out by the mighty Scunthorpe.    

The article on there also says that they are in for Chris Dagnall, also at Rochdale, who is out of contract. He scored 20 goals for them on the way to promotion last season. Surely he is the sort of player we should be looking at if we can't afford to bring Billy in? He won't be on massive money at Rochdale, and because he is already 24 there would be no compensation fee required if he came here on a Bosman.

Scunthorpes track record in signing strikers is excellent so maybe we should try and pinch Dagnall from under their noses.
